Once again for 2026, I have teamed up with Tim Pond Camps for a Maine Moose Hunt! Due to a scheduling conflict, we now have a moose hunting lodge permit available for October 12–17 2026 in WMD 7. This hunt includes lodging at Tim Pond Camps, 3 meals a day (lunch in the field), guide and 1 MAINE BULL MOOSE PERMIT (permittee and sub permittee). All located BEHIND GATES.
Tim Pond Camps is the oldest continuously operated Sporting Camp in America. The camp is an all-inclusive wilderness resort that offers Fly Fishing for Native Brook Trout, Hunting for Upland Birds, and Private Moose & Deer hunts. All situated behind gates in a wilderness setting with full amenities.

As of 4/4 this hunt is still available.
A cancelation has opened up the second week (9/7 thru 9/12, 6 days) and I now have 2 openings for the 2026 fall bear season over bait in the Rangeley/ Eustis Maine area. I am just looking for 2 hunters however I would consider a group of 3. You will be the only hunters for this week. For the 15- 17 sites I am planning for this season, I will only take 6 to 8 hunters total over 3 weeks to keep pressure down.
This is a guided hunt without food or lodging. You will be responsible for your own accommodations however if needed I will help you find a place. There are local camps available to rent or some hunters have even brought a camper for the week.
You will have 2 sites available with either a ladder stand or a ground blind at each, your choice. You will generally hunt the first site early in the week then switch to the second site later in the week if needed.
I will bring you into your site and pick you up each day of your hunt. However, I may have a couple sites accessible by 4 wheeler only, those will be semi guided (contact me for more details for that hunt)
This hunt is $1500 (6-day hunt) per person. I also offer a “buddy” hunt, $1600, which is for 2 people, one hunter, such as a couple. This hunt includes guide, baited sites, transportation to and from the hunting area and retrieval of your game.
If you are interested, or know someone who may be, feel free to reach out.

Thank you Holly and Taylor for taking care of our girl and bringing her to the Christmas shows. A hunting dog can clean up to be pretty!

With just a little over an hour to hunt, I went to one of my favorite late season spots. As we walked down the log road heading toward the spot the girls went on point. Unfortunately no bird but tracks leading away.
They began tracking and took me back across the road. Within a few minutes Diasy went on point and then Mille a few yards away. As I walked around a blowdown the bird went up and I fired. The dogs broke point and a second bird flew and I fired again. Unfortunately due to the brush neither was a great shot but both landed close. A little more work and both dogs got a retrieve. As Millie was retrieving her bird we found a nice deer shed from last year.
I wasn’t disappointed with 3 grouse seen and 2 harvested and a nice deer shed. A great outing!

Millie (6m) in the background and Daisy (4.5y) pointing a grouse deep in the Maine woods. Although most of the woodcock are gone, there are still some grouse to be found with a little work.

My father had come up to Maine to visit for the first time in several years, so I took him out to look for moose this morning. I would say that it was a success. Just a few soft calls and he came right in to 10-15’, AMAZING!!! Glad I found a good one for him and thanks for getting a great video.

A great time was had and a borrowed dog was a real treat! Thanks again for the use of Ripple! He did great.

Healing isn’t always physical but it’s often about clearing the mind, stepping away from the hustle and even cell service. For all healing is accomplished in different ways but the outcome can be similar. Over the last few days we fly fished for native brook trout in Tim Pond, caught perch and pickerel in Flagstaff Lake, went to Chain of Ponds and the Canadian boarder, and completed their goal of harvesting a few grouse and woodcock, bringing peace for a short time as their minds escape into the northern Maine wilderness.

It’s nice to be home after a long 10 days living in a very comfortable tent guiding moose hunting. Possibly the toughest hunt I’ve ever guided. I’ve been a part of 65 moose hunts and I believe this is #6 without a moose at the end.
After 4 hard days of calling, walking, sitting, riding, plus throwing a hail mary their last morning, we didn’t get one before the clients had to leave Friday at noon.
I called one in the first morning of the hunt, but he was just a 6pt (3x3) and they were looking for one bigger one, especially when it’s just a half hour in. They never put eyes on another bull or another moose until Thursday morning . We saw 3 cows in a cut and made a move to a different road to get closer. As I called we heard one of the cows calling. After a bit I walked a short distance in to the cut to see if I find them, that’s when I saw there was a small bull coming towards us. I snuck back to the guys and waited as he came but he never broke cover for a shot. After a bit, we jumped back in the truck and drove a short way back down the road to check the cut again where the cows were first seen. I then spotted a good bull as we drove past. However by the time I got turned so they could see him, he was gone.
It was the most difficult moose hunt I think I have ever done. Hours of calling sitting and stalking with no response from moose. Plus 400 miles driven in between to possibly just spot one. This was in WMD 1.
However tough this hunt was my hunters and myself tried hard and felt like we did everything we could. They were not disappointed with passing the first bull or that they went home empty handed. Although they didn’t harvest, we had a successful hunt with all that was involved . I’m looking forward to another hunt in 10 days.

Joining me for a second year after unfortunately not even seeing a bear, David had a different experience this time. He had a quiet sit Monday however Tuesday he was treated to a XXL sow with 2 cubs as well as another bear he only saw briefly. This evening a sow arrived by herself and David got his opportunity at his first Maine Black bear! Congratulations on a successful hunt and some good meat in the freezer.
