We were saddened to learn of the passing of former Saddleback General Manager Bruce Johnson. Bruce served as Saddleback’s GM from the spring of 1968 through the early 1970s, and helped to design and build Saddleback’s first snowmaking system with a million-gallon retention pond, which was a first for a Maine ski area. During his tenure the modern base lodge was constructed, along with the original Sandy chair and the lower novice trail complex. An Army veteran and a long-time condominium owner at Saddleback, Bruce was always available to help our team with whatever we needed, even well after his time working here. We’re deeply grateful for Bruce’s passion and dedication, and we will miss his sense of humor and constant presence here at Saddleback.
