As we’ve been preparing for our inaugural season, we’ve been overwhelmed by the excitement and support across the region.
During that process, an opportunity presented itself that aligns perfectly with our long-term vision for this franchise and energy.

We are incredibly excited to announce that the Cape Fear Ghost Crabs will play our inaugural season at Brooks Field at UNCW.
This isn’t just a change in address - It’s a statement and the launch of the Ghost Crabs on a major stage.

⚾ An elite collegiate baseball environment - top-tier field conditions, D1 player amenities
⚾ Expanded seating capacity including club level VIP seating and preferred parking�
⚾ State-of-the-art facilities - modern video board, sound system, & prime time lighting�

We are incredibly grateful to the Cape Fear community including the Leland area for welcoming us and supporting our early planning process. 🔥 John Nester – The Palmetto State League
A Greer, SC native with experience from Clemson to the pros, Nester brings elite player-development expertise and a passion for growing the game in South Carolina.

🔥 Brett Thaler – The Volunteer State League
A former college and professional player with deep knowledge of what athletes need to succeed, Thaler is ready to build meaningful summer opportunities for players across Tennessee.

🔥 Michael Caveney – The Cowboy Collegiate League
A lifelong student of the game with coaching experience nationwide, Caveney brings strong leadership and a love for small-town baseball communities.

Together, these three leaders represent the heart of what The Players League stands for: development, opportunity, community, and a genuine love for the game. ⚾️

The Volunteer State Baseball League is proud to introduce Brett Thaler as its Commissioner. With a lifelong love for the game and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at every level, Thaler brings experience, energy, and vision to this new role.
