Personal matters kept me from getting pictures of this year’s annual show of respect by White Tiger students on Patriot’s Day (9/11).
Each year on Patriot’s Day (9/11), White Tiger students are provided the opportunity to accept a yellow rose in remembrance of 9/11 along with our “pay-it-forward” card that asks them to perform a good deed or random act of kindness for someone today with the only reward being the promise that the deed will be paid forward by its recipient.
Students and Instructors also gave a moment of silence, ceasing class activities momentarily at 9:59am and 10:28am EST (the times of collapse of the South and North Towers of the World Trade Center respectively).
The remaining yellow roses are presented to a local Fire Stations in various cities now in honor of the 343 firefighters who were lost on that tragic day 25 years ago. We will always remember.
Martial Arts is more than just learning how to punch and kick and memorizing forms. It is about the Black Belt life skills that we try to impart in the lessons to our students like... Respect, Honor, Thankfulness, Appreciation, etc. Often these lessons are subtle but occasionally, on days like today, they can be brought to the forefront and have even a greater impact.
