Every week coaches overcomplicate what they’re preparing for.

Here are the 5 things I keep coming back to week after week, program after program.

Make these part of your system and your preparation changes.

1️⃣ Complicated equals confusion.

If your players are thinking instead of executing, you have too much in the playbook.

Simplify.

The team that executes fast wins, not the team with the most plays.

2️⃣ Practice mixing tempo.

You can’t show up on Friday running tempo if you haven’t practiced it all week.

Tempo is a skill.

Train it like one.

Rep the pace until it’s automatic.

3️⃣ Do what your quarterback can do.

Your offense has to be built around what your QB does well, not what you want to run.

Put him in positions to succeed.

His confidence is your offense’s ceiling.

4️⃣ Make shots based on what the defense gives you.

Don’t force it.

The defense tells you the answer on every play.

Read it.

Take what they give you.

The big plays come from patience, not guessing.

5️⃣ Weekly system. Daily routine.

Winning isn’t built on Friday night.

It’s built Monday through Thursday.

A daily routine built on the system creates the trust and the reps that show up when it matters most.

The biggest lie in football: complex plays win games.

They don’t.

Confusion kills ex*****on. Every single time.

The teams that score aren’t running plays nobody’s seen before. They’re running simple concepts faster than the defense can react. They’re trusting the system instead of trying to out-scheme the opponent.

Every coach replays Friday night on Saturday morning.

Most ask the wrong question.

“Did we have enough talent?”

The better question is:

“Did we build enough trust?”

Trust in the system.
Trust in the reps.
Trust in the quarterback to play fast.
Trust in the line to fire off on rhythm.
Trust in the call.

Hesitation loses more games than talent ever will.

And hesitation starts long before Friday night.

If players hesitate, they don’t fully trust the system yet.

That’s not a talent problem.
That’s a preparation problem.

The goal isn’t thinking on Friday night.
