I was on a call this past week supporting a multi-seven-figure business owner.

She’s built an online nutrition business that most people would envy, has a loyal audience, and has been doing this long enough to know what she’s doing.

And she described where she was as a “complete mental clusterf***.” 🤬

She was trying to move into a high-ticket offer and couldn’t figure out why it felt so hard.

She knew it was the next move she wanted to make, but she kept struggling to get it launched and couldn’t figure out why.

When I started asking questions, something came out that she’d never actually examined:

“I guess I just decided that my audience doesn’t do high ticket. That they’re all low-ticket people.”

But that belief wasn’t based on truth.

It was just her core blind spot keeping everything else from moving forward.

Most of us were taught to think about positioning through the lens of a niche.⁠

Pick a specific person, focus on a specific problem, and the messaging will follow.⁠

That works to a point, but it leaves out the part that actually makes someone choose you.⁠

A distinctive edge, the way Megan frames it, is the intersection of three things:⁠

📖 Your story, including your pre-business life and the moments that shaped how you approach the work.⁠

⚙️ Your framework, meaning the specific way you take someone through a transformation. Not the steps everyone in your industry uses, but the way you’ve put them together.⁠

👤 Your ideal client, including the nuances of who they are and what they actually need to hear.⁠

Two coaches can serve a nearly identical niche and still feel completely different to a prospective client, because the combination of story plus framework plus client lands differently in each case.⁠

If your messaging has gone soft, or if your offers have stopped feeling like an obvious match for who you are now, the move isn’t to add a new strategy.⁠

It’s to look at the three pieces of your edge and figure out which one has gone quiet.⁠

The work is unglamorous.⁠

It’s pen-and-paper, audit-your-clients, write-out-your-story work.⁠

But it’s also the work that gets you back to a business that actually sounds like you.⁠
