Amazing Athletes of Raleigh, NC

Amazing Athletes of Raleigh, NC Amazing Athletes is an educational athletic program for children that teaches 10 different sports, m Physically, Mentally, Socially, and Emotionally.

We use sports as a catalyst to meet the needs of the Whole Child. Amazing Athletes is a sports-based fitness program specifically designed to teach children the basic fundamentals and mechanics of 10 different sports while also helping them to master 7 key areas of motor-development. Unlike other programs, Amazing Athletes is not guided free play. All of our programs use a custom year-round curric

ulum that is uniquely designed with specific goals in mind. We are aware of the developmental skills children need to be learning at each age, and we make sure that every child is actively engaged and on target to reach those milestones. Our coaches use progressive teaching techniques and age-appropriate equipment to introduce children to the basic skills of sports:

Track and Field
Basketball
Football
Golf
Baseball
Volleyball
Lacrosse
Soccer
Hockey
Tennis

We also focus on 7 key areas of motor-development and incorporate movement activities designed to advance a child’s hand-eye coordination, gross & fine motor skills, cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, speed & agility and more. Amazing Athletes classes promote teamwork, encourage sportsmanship, build confidence, and improve coordination. The classes also act as an introduction to healthy choices and active living. There are numerous studies showing that young people who are physically active more readily adopt other healthy behaviors and demonstrate higher academic performance at school. As if that weren’t enough, there is no other program offered in Raleigh that allows your child to learn ten different sports in one program! Regular Amazing Athletes classes are 30 minutes in length and are held once a week; four times a month. The program is year-round and develops as your child does. We have some children start the class when they’re 18 months old and stay in until through elementary school. We highly encourage you to watch our educational documentary which goes into greater detail about the benefits of an early introduction to sports and physical fitness:

Our creative juices were flowing this week as we incorporated our muscle (quads) and motor development skill (balancing) into all of our activities. We used our quads and balancing when leaping during the triple jump. When playing mini lacrosse it was fun to show the athletes how a spoon looks and acts just like a full sized lacrosse stick. Each athlete had the opportunity to squat, scoop, cradle/balance, and throw the ball. Teaching our athletes how to use specific muscles in so many different ways is always a win. How will you use your quads today?

Summer may be winding down but the creativity hasn’t stopped. This week we are adding beach balls into our curriculum. Group games help teach our athletes teamwork along with learning how to use equipment in various ways. We will also be using the beach balls to play baseball. Of course we will be incorporating our muscle education into all of our activities too. We are looking forward to seeing the smiles when we bring out the beach balls. Make it a great week!

Our athletes always put a smile on our face but you when you walk into a classroom to say "Good Morning" and the children are chanting your names it just warms the heart. Thank you for all the families and athletes for giving us such joy!

It's hot here in NC so we decided to bring our imaginations out and travel to the beach and ice rink. This week our athletes are visiting the beach and playing beach ball volleyball. The fun doesn't stop there but goes onto the ice rink. They are practicing their skating by pretending to be Zamboni's and cleaning the ice before playing beach ball noodle hockey. We learned eating peas makes us faster by creating happy tummies. Through it all we continue to teach our athletes about hydration and the importance of water breaks. We hope everyone has as fun of days as we do!

It may have been rainy today in NC but that didn't stop our creativity and fun for our athletes. Moving inside brings out new opportunities. After color sorting we used our bean bag scarves as jellyfish and swam around the ocean using a variety of motions. We ran, tip toed, marched, and jumped the waves. What a better way to teach ball control than to bring soccer indoors to a smaller space. So many activities were played and lots of giggles were heard. Stay dry this week.

Last week we had a blast introducing our athletes to a variety of new games! The biggest hit was Octopus Ball. During this game they got to throw balls at the coaches. Playground games give our athletes the opportunity to strengthen their teamwork skills, gross motor skills, and have new experiences. This week we will work on speed & agility, and throwing through football and baseball. Have a great week!
