Attention All Obedience and Rally Judges

Based on the AKC Rally® Regulations, Obedience Regulations, and Judge's Guidelines: “The AKC Rally® Regulations/Obedience Regulations and Judge's Guidelines cannot cover every situation, nor can they substitute for common sense.” A handler entering the Rally or Obedience ring with a baby strapped to their body presents a significant safety concern and should not be permitted to compete. While this specific circumstance is not expressly addressed in the regulations, the safety and welfare of all participants, including the exhibitor, child, dog, judge, stewards, and ring personnel, must remain the primary consideration....

Qualifying Performance One of the responsibilities we carry as judges is applying the regulations consistently and fairly — even in situations that can feel awkward or uncomfortable in the moment.
