The Wilderness Road Ride is currently proceeding as scheduled. We are monitoring conditions closely and have contingency procedures in place should conditions deteriorate. Since light rain is forecasts, riders should prepare for wet-weather riding, use lights, ride conservatively, and choose distances appropriate for their experience and comfort level.
Our priorities are rider safety, volunteer safety, and clear communication. Please come prepared for wet riding conditions:
• Front and rear lights are strongly recommended
• Layer clothes and bring dry clothes at the finish
• Use caution on descents, bridges, painted lines, and turns
• Allow extra braking distance, especially on descents
• Ride predictably and communicate with fellow riders
• Choose a distance appropriate for your comfort and experience level
• The 75 and 100 mile routes can easily be shortened to 55 or 75 by turning right at Lomen’s Ferry and Old Route 100, after crossing the river.
• Those choosing to ride the 75 and 100 routes, please check in with Mark Long before departing.
Support vehicles, aid stations, and ride staff will remain operational throughout the event. Riders should understand that weather conditions may slow ride times and increase fatigue, so conservative riding decisions are encouraged. Participants are expected to adjust speed and riding behavior according to conditions.
If conditions deteriorate beyond safe operating thresholds — including lightning, flooding, or hazardous roadway conditions — organizers may modify routes, shorten portions of the ride, or halt operations as needed.
There is absolutely no shame in shortening your route or ending your ride early if conditions become uncomfortable.
We appreciate everyone’s flexibility, preparation, and support of the event. We look forward to riding together safely and responsibly.
See you at the start line.
