I had to take a couple days to let the state tournament loss pain go away before making this post. This being my first year as head coach was definitely a learning year for me. HS ball has a ton more responsibilities than the HC of a travel team. I absolutely can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed leading the young ladies this season. I put them against the best competition I could schedule and they fought all year long and I think after we won the regional we finally got to a winning record. I believe you have to put them in the fire and see how they grow. Some will fight some might shrink. With Quitman ladies you don’t find many that shrink. The rigorous schedule they lead keeps them strong in all sports and aspects of life. This team and our female athletes in general are winners. They expect to win at everything they compete at. I truly believe instilling this in them will carry into their adult lives. They went the whole season not ranked and when asked about it I just told people they would be there in the end when few are left. They made it to the top 8 and we expect to do that every year. We will never be 30-0 because I am going to challenge them to beat teams they shouldn’t beat. This team accepted that challenge and never wavered. They are all winners and I am super proud to be their coach.
