Today is the 80th anniversary of D-Day. A historical date that helped to change the modern world and whom the survivors are becoming fewer by the day.
When I asked a sophomore high school student what D-Day was, the answer was, “I read about it in class, but don’t remember what it was “.
Very sad what isn’t being emphasized in school. An entire generation of heroes and heroics being forgotten.
Let’s work on keeping them alive and forever in our hearts, memories and future so that we do not allow the same mistakes to happen.

President Roosevelt "Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan".

Each year on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

"Survivors that return to Pearl for an anniversary go for those who were killed on 7 December 1941. They are the voices of those who can't speak." Farley tracks the Pearl Harbor survivors still living, and said she has verified 26 people across the country, with the majority of them "well over 100 years of age."

Let us NEVER FORGET to stand vigilant in our daily routine!

Today in our Military History:
1993 – Battle at Bakhara Market
"Black Hawk Down"

On 22 August, Task Force Ranger, consisting of one company of Rangers from 3/75, a special forces unit, and a deployment package of the 160th SOAR (A), was ordered to deploy to Mogadishu, Somalia. They departed on 26 August. The mission of the 160th SOAR (A) as defined by the task force commander was: “When directed, [to] deploy to Mogadishu, Somalia; [to] conduct operations to capture General Aideed and/or designated others. The aviation task force must be prepared to conduct two primary courses of action: moving convoy and strong point assault. . . . Success is defined as the live capture of General Aideed and designated individuals and recovery to the designated transload point; safely and without fratricide.”...
.. The 160th SOAR (A) had been involved in the fiercest battle since the Vietnam War. It had lost two MH-60 aircraft with two more severely damaged, suffered eight wounded and five killed in action, and had had one of its pilots taken captive. Despite the public perception that this was a failed mission, Task Force Ranger did take into custody and delivered the two leaders from Aideed’s clan, resulting in mission accomplishment. President Clinton expressed sorrow at the deaths of American soldiers in Somalia, but reaffirmed those U.S. forces would stay in the African nation.

Today especially, as many days, we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice to respond to an emergency and sacrificed one's self to aid another human being. Over 2,990 people died that day and many living are suffering from the debris pollution that it caused, as well as many who have mental pains for their losses of that day, family, friends, and a sense of security.

PTSD impacts in many ways, may we continue to assist our fellow person to cope with this terrible illness.

God has given us hope of continued life, new friendships, and greater faith in Him. May God continue to bless the United States of America and all that she can give aid to in the name of love!
