Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex, Inc

Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex, Inc Quincy's only nonprofit aquatic and recreation center. History:
In 1997, under the vision of generosity and goodwill of the late Mr. Mr.

Creating access, opportunity, health, and connection through low-to-no-cost programs for youth and families.

🌊 www.jacksonlincolnpoolqcy.org Bill Black, the Jackson–Lincoln Swimming Complex was created. Black felt it was his civic duty to do something to improve the quality of life of Quincy’s northwest neighborhoods. An ardent boater, Bill had noticed for years that minority and other disadvan

taged youth of the northwest side would swim in Quinsippi Bay or the dangerous waters of the Mississippi River because of the lack of access to a public swimming facility. As he neared the end of a generous and productive life, Bill Black proposed a public swimming facility on the sight of the former Jackson School at Eighth & College, ownership of the property which had previously been transferred to the City of Quincy. The swimming complex officially opened on August 2, 1997. Thanks to Bill Black’s generosity and the efforts of other generous Quincyans, the facility consists of a large swimming pool with diving well, a fine wading pool for young children, shower and concession facilities and a filter house. The complex is leased to the Jackson–Lincoln Swimming Complex, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation that staffs the pool on a seasonal basis. The Jackson–Lincoln Swimming Complex primarily raises over 95% of its funds on a yearly basis to operate the facility and continues to try and grow its endowment at the Quincy Area Community Foundation in order to become a sustainable piece of the community.

💙 A quick update from Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex:

This week looks a little different as we invest in what matters most—keeping our swimmers safe and strengthening our community.

🏊 Monday & Tuesday, our facility will be closed while our team completes American Red Cross Lifeguard Training to ensure we continue providing a safe, high-quality experience for every guest who visits.

🎨 Tuesday evening from 6–8 PM, we're proud to partner with Arts Quincy: America's First Arts Council to host a FREE Arts & Culture Night featuring dinner, activities, and entertainment for the whole family (weather permitting).

☀️ We'll be open Wednesday from 1–6 PM, closed Thursday for previously scheduled private rentals, closed Friday in observance of Juneteenth, and back open Saturday from 1–6 PM.

Thank you for your understanding and support. As a community-powered nonprofit, every decision we make is centered on creating a safer, stronger, and more vibrant Jackson-Lincoln for the families we serve.

We can't wait to see you at the pool! 💦

💚 2026 IMPACT 💚

What an incredible four days of generosity!

Because of you, WCIL Gives 2026 more than doubled the impact of our 2025 campaign. Donors, sponsors, volunteers, and organizations came together to strengthen the communities of West Central Illinois, and it was beautiful to watch generosity take hold.

Every gift, every share, every email, every conversation, and every act of generosity contributed to something bigger than any one organization. Together, you demonstrated what is possible when a community rallies around the causes it cares about.

We are especially grateful to the participating organizations who shared their missions, engaged their supporters, and invited others to invest in their work. The passion, creativity, and dedication you brought to this campaign were inspiring.

To every donor who made a gift, thank you for believing in the power of local organizations to create lasting impact. Your generosity will continue to make a difference long after WCIL Gives has ended!

From all of us at the Tracy Family Foundation, thank you for making WCIL Gives such an incredible success. We can't wait to see the impact these dollars have in our communities

When people think of Jackson-Lincoln, they see a swimming pool.

What many don't see is the vision, dedication, and community spirit that built it.

For more than two decades, Ben Bumbry poured his heart into Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex.

He believed every child deserved a safe place to swim, play, grow, and belong—regardless of their family's ability to pay.

That mission continues today.

Jackson-Lincoln exists to provide accessible aquatics, recreation, and community programs for youth and families, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to opportunity, wellness, and summer fun.

Today, we need your help.

🌊 We have raised $1,300
🌊 Our goal is $50,000
🌊 Every dollar helps us move closer to unlocking our matching grant and sustaining this mission for future generations.

This isn't just about filling a pool.

It's about filling a community need. It's about preserving a legacy. It's about making sure the next child has the same opportunities that generations before them received.

If Ben's work, Jackson-Lincoln's mission, or the children and families we serve have ever touched your heart, please consider making a gift before midnight.

💙 Donate. 💙 Share. 💙 Help us keep the mission alive.
