The weather is warming up and higher-elevation trails are opening (albeit with some snow drifts and downed trees)! Mills Peak is ready to shred top-to-bottom and much of the Downieville system. Mt. Hough and South Park systems are in excellent condition, and we're currently running shuttles to the Hough summit Friday-Monday. Check out the full trails report for the latest, and book your shuttle seats at yubaexpeditions.com.

This week's spring storm dropped rain and snow on Mt. Hough, but vans should be able to make it to the bathroom just below the summit by Saturday for weekend shuttles. The road and trail between the bathroom and the summit still has significant snow patches and mud (see photos from yesterday). The trail crew also did another round of log out this week, and all trails are open with ideal soil moisture from the precipitation. Give us a call at the shop or stop in with any questions!

The post-shuttle pints will be even tastier this season! We’re teaming up with our partners at Quintopia Brewing on 5 Bucks a Pint, a season-long fundraiser to benefit Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, the nonprofit parent of Yuba Expeditions. Quintopia will donate $5 from your first pint (full priced, with a food purchase) toward SBTS’ ongoing trail building and maintenance on Mt. Hough. Book a shuttle & support two local businesses and one awesome trail network! Shuttle season kicks off this weekend and reservations can be made at yubaexpeditions.com.

The Yuba Expedition shuttle season officially starts on Friday April 17 and reservations are open! A single run to the Mt. Hough summit is $40, and you can nab two runs for $75 if you book by May 1. Private shuttles are also open for reservation—which is a great option if you have a large group or want to customize your day to include trails throughout the Lost Sierra. Find all the details at yubaexpeditions.com!

There are now some 70 miles of multi-use singletrack on Mt. Hough, including FIVE top-to-bottom routes, thanks to the work of the SBTS Pro Trail Crew, which finished the 10-year Mt. Hough Trail Project last fall, in partnership with the Plumas National Forest. Be sure to check out the new Tollgate top-to-bottom, a veritable two-wheeled playground with rock rolls, swoopy berms and new lift and tilt rollers; Indian Falls 2 or Berry Creek for more tech options, or get creative stringing together a Choose Your Own Adventure route—get all the beta at the Yuba shop in Quincy.

New this year: Grab a pint Quintopia Brewing Co in downtown Quincy after your ride, and our partners at the brewery will donate $5 from your first pint (purchased with food) to Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to help us keep the trails maintained and running smoothly all season long.

See you on the trails this season!

It was frosty and beautiful on the Mt. Hough summit Friday morning, but the light snow was melting fast, giving way to amazing conditions this weekend with moisture in the dirt and clear, sunny days on tap. There might still be a few trees down on Acorn Grotto, Indian Falls Ridge and QTC, but the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship Pro Trail Crew logged out the rest of the mountain on Friday and it should be good to go!

In Downieville, on the upper trails, Butcher Ranch is open up to the waterfall, Pauley Creek to Gold Valley Rim trail and about halfway up Lavezzola Trail.

Get out there and enjoy the conditions this weekend before the rain rolls back in next week!
