This year, the OM 100K saw the Candians bring the HEAT!!!! Let’s hear it for Vancouver, BC’s Harley Le Leivre and Patrick Baylis!!! While Seattle’s Joe “Stringbean” McConaughy set a new course record, Harley’s second place finish also broke the previous record with a finish time of 11:22:40. Meanwhile, Patrick’s third place, sub-12 Hour finish rounded out the Men’s Top 3 with the sixth fastest time ever recorded on this course. All three took home prize money!

What the actual Ruck?!?! While the lightning was striking at the front of the races, the thunder was rolling deep and strong at the back. One of the most remarkable stories to emerge from this year‘s race was the crowning of the first ever BAMR- Bad A** Mother Rucker. Chris Renner of Redmond, WA became the first ever, and only person, to complete this first ever back-to-back double Ruck. On Saturday, Chris completed almost 9,000’ of climbing over 50K while carrying over 25 additional pounds on his back in a time of 9:14:01. Then on Sunday, he put on his pack again to finish second in the 25K Ruck with over 3,700 feet of gain in a time of 4:42:44. Combined time for both courses was 13:56:45. That’s right, he completed both courses under the time cut off for the 50K alone. I want to point out that it was Chris who suggested, after last year’s 25K Ruck, that he wanted to do 50K as a Ruck. He gets full credit, or blame, depending on how you look at it. This just may have been Type 2.5 Fun??? For now, we will file this away under, “Be careful what you wish for.” Congratulations, Chris. If there was a world championship Ruck, I think this would be it. Tremendous.

Congratulations to our top three men’s finishers in the Olympic Mountains 50K. Seattle’s James Stadler closed the gap on the course record to less than four minutes, while local Port Townsend‘s Ian Fraser was both second overall and the fastest 50+ master this race has ever seen (Like, not even close!) Meanwhile, Jackson Bradshaw brought his climbing legs from Salt Lake City to round up the top three. Congratulations, Gents!!!

Congratulations to our new 50K course record holder for women. Fresh off her victory at the White River 25K, Amelia Keyser- Gibson became the first woman to break the six hour mark on the extremely challenging Olympic Mountains 50K course with a blazing fast time of 5:45:36. She got to wear the 💲glasses and take home some prize money for setting this new course record in the process. This Girl IS 🔥
