Every academy has a beginning. Ours was built on a legacy.

This wasn't just the last mat laid in the floor of Phoenix Combat Collective.

This was a piece of the journey.

Years ago, I stood on this very mat as a white belt under Coach Joe—uncertain, hungry, and chasing something I couldn't yet name. On these mats, I was broken down, rebuilt, humbled, tested, and forged. Every lesson, every failure, every small victory became part of the foundation I stand on today.

When it came time to build PCC, there was only one way to finish it.
Together.

Joe and I laid the final mat side by side—not as coach and student, but as brothers in the same lineage. A passing of knowledge. A reminder that none of us rise alone. That every black belt was once a white belt. Every leader was once a student. Every phoenix is born from ashes that came before.

This mat carries years of sweat, sacrifice, and hard-earned wisdom.

Now it becomes part of something new.
Part of the floor where future champions will take their first steps. Where children will discover confidence. Where fighters will prepare for battle. Where people will find family.

The last mat wasn't the end of construction.
It was the beginning of a legacy.
