🚨Development Update-”The Woods at West Mountain” Photo & information share-last 4 months. 🔔 Excited to announce Bull Stockwell Allen (BSA) has been hired as lead Architect & Design firm for final site plan phase, and afterwards build phase, since receiving our Town zoning approvals in December 👍 Considered one of the Top Resort Design Firms in the US, with an amazing portfolio, Spruce Peak-Stowe, Robert Redford’s Sundance-Utah, Beaver Creek-CO, Bretton Woods-NH, to name a few; we are very happy to the have them final design The Woods at West Mountain 😊. Sara and I also wanted to give a shout out and thank you to our Partners Steve & Lou for funding this approval process for this amazing vision & opportunity for West Mountain, our area & also for their tremendous financial support rebuilding & operating West Mtn over the past 14 years 🙏 It was very nice having them and some of their family members come up for the onsite envisioning & design workshop with BSA & others recently. We are close to completing the envisioning & design with BSA for the lower & middle sections and then will be moving on to final design & engineering & upper sections. We will have spent 5+ years & $1,000,000+ on the design and approval of “The Woods” when done (hopefully this fall); well worth it to build such a beautiful, nature centered resort for all to enjoy while ensuring the future of West Mountain ⛷️🏂❤️ We have done extensive engineering & studies on stormwater & traffic receiving a favorable review letter from the Town Engineer & now will proceed with final engineering there. Some notable BSA design changes (for consistency review): 1. A shift from the previously proposed apartments to condos. 2. Replacement of proposed ~50 person capacity acoustic music amphitheater with “Tree Houses”- two bedroom ski in ski out suites located below & managed by Hotel West. 3. Aesthetic Buffer Park/Area along West Mountain Rd. 4. Repositioning Parking & Woods Flyer Chairlift’s bottom Bull-Wheel. 5. Reoriented Village to run parallel rather than perpendicular to the mountain, etc. BSA has done a multitude of very successful resorts on the East Coast. They know the market & what works/sells & they feel West Mountain is an amazing opportunity with our location, idyllic natural woods setting, Town of Queensbury, City of Glens Falls, Lake George, Saratoga Springs, beautiful views and ideal medium sized family ski mountain with varied terrain and night skiing. They feel we can create “a there, there” and a beautiful legacy investment & experience to be proud of for future generations of Westies. I have included a lot of pictures, covering many areas with captions, in an attempt to update, introduce/acknowledge, share our excitement and the vision of “The Woods” for those of you who are interested in reading/wading through them😊.
