Some moments are bigger than baseball. 🇺🇸⚾️

Just weeks after 9/11, George W. Bush walked to the mound at Yankee Stadium before Game 3 of the 2001 World Series and delivered a perfect strike.

With everything New York and the country were going through, that moment carried a weight no other first pitch ever could.

The crowd, the emotion, the pressure—and he threw it right down the middle. Still gives me chills watching it all these years later.

Charles brought elite coverage, physical tackling and unmatched playmaking versatility, finishing with 65 interceptions, 34 forced fumbles, a Defensive Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl championship.

Rod recorded 71 interceptions, scored 12 defensive touchdowns and earned six First-Team All-Pro selections while successfully transitioning from an elite cornerback into a Hall of Fame safety.

Rich Gannon was absolutely incredible during the 2002 season. 🔥🏴‍☠️

At 37 years old, the Raiders quarterback led the NFL with 4,689 passing yards, completed 67.6% of his passes and threw 26 touchdowns on his way to winning league MVP.

He then guided Oakland through the playoffs and into Super Bowl ###VII.

Gannon’s peak may not have lasted long, but from 1999 through 2002, few quarterbacks in football were better.

Iván Rodríguez took home the award after hitting .332 with 35 home runs, 113 RBI and 25 stolen bases—but Pedro Martínez may have had the strongest case. Pedro went 23-4 with a 2.07 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP and 313 strikeouts during one of the greatest pitching seasons ever.

Then you had Derek Jeter batting .349 with 219 hits, Manny Ramirez driving in 165 runs, Rafael Palmeiro crushing 47 homers and Ken Griffey Jr. adding another 48.

Kevin Durant became the youngest scoring champion in league history, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers toward another championship, Dwight Howard dominated both ends of the floor, and Dwyane Wade remained one of basketball’s most complete superstars.

But LeBron James was on another level—averaging 29.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists while leading Cleveland to an NBA-best 61 wins.

Freddie Freeman vs. Todd Helton is a much closer debate than some people realize. 👀⚾️

Freeman has the advantage in WAR, home runs, stolen bases, OPS+, All-Star selections and MVP awards—but Helton finished with the higher batting average, OBP, slugging percentage and OPS while driving in more runs.

Freeman has enjoyed the stronger overall résumé, but Helton was one of the most complete hitters of his generation and earned his place in Cooperstown.

Tennessee jumped out to an early lead, Pittsburgh stormed back behind Tommy Maddox, and the game eventually went to overtime tied at 31.

Joe Nedney initially missed the potential game-winning field goal—but a running-into-the-kicker penalty gave him another chance. He drilled the retry, sending Tennessee to the AFC Championship Game with a wild 34-31 victory.

Steve McNair accounted for three touchdowns, the Titans survived another playoff thriller, and Steelers fans were left furious over one of the most controversial endings of the early 2000s.

The 2007 Patriots offense was straight out of a video game 🔥🎮

At this point in the season, New England had the FEWEST possessions in the NFL… and the MOST touchdowns.

They scored a TD on 51 of 102 possessions, excluding kneeldowns. That’s 50% when the league average was just 20%. Absolutely ridiculous 🤯

Tom Brady picking defenses apart, Randy Moss beating them deep, and Wes Welker working underneath. Every time that offense took the field, you expected six points.

Prime Joe Horn was an absolute monster—and one of the most underrated receivers of the 2000s! ⚜️🔥

From 2000 through 2004, Horn recorded four 1,200-yard seasons, caught 45 touchdowns and earned four Pro Bowl selections. He combined physical route running, reliable hands and big-play ability to become the centerpiece of the Saints’ offense before the Drew Brees era.

And, of course, nobody will ever forget the legendary cell-phone touchdown celebration! 📱😂

Joe Horn deserves much more recognition when discussing the best receivers of his generation.

Luka Dončić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are already building two incredible legacies—but who will ultimately rank higher all-time? 🏀🔥

Luka has been the superior all-around offensive force, averaging 29.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.2 assists while earning six First-Team All-NBA selections.

SGA has been more efficient, stronger defensively and already owns two MVP awards and a championship.

Both are still in their primes, so this debate could change dramatically over the next several seasons.

When their careers are over, who will be remembered as the greater player: Luka or SGA? 🤔
