We're back!!!!!
Opening day at Little T Quarter Midget Club was delayed a week, but that made for one heck of a double header weekend!!
Saturday was opening day, we got to knock the rust off and test out a few changes in a non points day.
Jackson went out and went 1>1 in his heat l, then 1>1 in the main. Locking down his FIRST EVER WI in a quarter midget.
Reid started his day in the 160, going 2>3 in the heat, making it clear that the motor refresh we did this winter wasn't up to scratch. But, the main went OK. He held it right at 3 and finished on the podium.
World Formula was the last out. And the one we both most excited and nervous about. But the nerves were all for naught. Reid drove that thing like we've never seen. Cruising to 1>1 in the heat. Then the main came and he nearly got to completely check out. Building nearly a 3/4 track lead before the caution came out with 10 to go and tighten up the field. But the result was never in question. FIRST WIN in the Worl Formula class!!
On to Sunday amd points race #1.
The day started once again with Jackson going 1>1 in his heat. Then came the main...Jack hopped out to a nice lead and was cruising, but then lap traffic came into the mix with 3 to go and Jack got confused, tried to pass on the outside and by the time he slowed to swing the car down under the slower car, the driver in 2nd had snuck under him and overtaken the top spot. But we learned something and still ended with a hard flight 2nd place.
Reid had some of the same luck on Sunday as he had Saturday. Starting 2 in the 160 heat, he battled hard to keep it up front, eventually having to settle for another 3rd place result. In the main, he got a good jump at the start and got up to 2nd. Where he stayed for most of the race. But we saw the motor get tired, hoped for the caution that never came and had to settle for another 3rd place finish.
Now the world. Starting p2 I. The heat this time, Reid didn't get the best jump on the start, so he tucked it in behind the leader amd waited for his spot to make the pass. But the car wasn't responding the way he likes, so after a few looks at it, he decided to stay out of harm's way and just take a 2nd place finish in the heat and have his team work on the handling during intermission. All in all, a wise choice. Tyler made a few adjustments for the main and he was able to make the move he couldn't in the heat, about three lapsinto the main and checked out from there. Another WIN!!
All in all it was one heck of a weekend and we can't wait to get back out there next weeoend!!
