Why?
Murph is more than just a workout.
We’re incredibly lucky to be part of a community that takes time to remember, recognize, and honor those who gave everything. Hero WODs are meant to be hard. They’re long, uncomfortable, and demanding by design. But if we only show up to “survive a hard workout,” we miss the entire point.
Every Hero WOD has a name. Every name has a story. Every story represents a life, a sacrifice, a family, and a legacy.
Without that context, Murph becomes just another hard WOD on the whiteboard. With it, the workout means something bigger than ourselves.
Take a few minutes to read the origin story of Murph. Learn who Lt. Michael Murphy was. Understand why thousands of affiliates around the world complete this workout every Memorial Day.
Your participation is more than fitness.
It’s remembrance.
It’s respect.
It’s carrying someone’s legacy forward — one rep at a time.
However, not every hero has a workout, but we can support other networks whose work align with bringing awareness to our Veterans. Take a moment to look at

This year’s honoree is a Puyallup local, Nick Guard. Since you are already running in Murph, you can pledge your mile in his honor and help The Unquiet Professional raise awareness for his and future fallen soldiers.
