Not only sub-surface, ensure that you and you dive buddy go through contingencies in your dive plan before you enter the water. Lost buddy procedures, how to ditch each other’s weight, and where your first aid supplies are just to name a few. If something unexpected happens you will always revert to your lowest level of training. Keep the bar high on training and enjoy everything the underwater environment has to offer.
Often divers only practice emergency skills during a class. Keep you and your buddy prepared to assist each other, or others, by regularly practicing emergency skills. Practice helps build muscle memory, so your response in an emergency is more efficient.
