Update (June 15):

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) announced that the boil water advisory at Franklin Park was lifted on Sunday, June 14. All water sources on the Franklin Park property, including drinking fountains, bathroom sinks and showers, have returned to regular operation and may be used for drinking and all other purposes.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Drinking Water issued a boil water advisory for the park on Friday, June 12 due to a temporary pressure issue with the water system at Franklin Park

Drinking Water Temporarily Unavailable at Franklin Park; Opening of Pool & Splash Pad Not Affected

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) is advising patrons at Franklin Park not to drink water from any source on the property. Out of an abundance of caution, the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Drinking Water has issued a boil water advisory for the park, which relies on an independent water system for its potable water. Neighboring homes and businesses are not impacted. The precaution is necessary due to a pressure issue with the water system at Franklin Regional Park.

This temporary precaution affects drinking water at the park and pool facilities; however, the pool and splash pad are not affected and remain open because those recreational facilities use an alternate water source that is not impacted by the precautionary measure.

PRCS has posted signs throughout the park facilities notifying patrons to not consume water from the drinking fountains, bathroom sinks or showers on park property until further notice. PRCS will provide bottled drinking water at the Franklin Park pool and splash pad, the Franklin Park administrative office, and the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center until the water pressure issue is resolved. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their own bottled drinking water to Franklin Park and the Franklin Park pool.

According to the Virginia Department of Health website, the drinking water precautions do not impact the use of tap water for hygiene (washing hands/showering) after water pressure drops due to equipment failure or power outages. Restroom facilities and showers will remain available at the park for normal use.

Loudoun County staff are actively working to address the pressure issue to restore normal operations as soon as possible.

As you make your way around the course participants will be showered with colorful powder. Each participant will receive a bandana, and sunglasses. This is an off-road race with varying terrain. Strollers and dogs are not recommended for this particular race.

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has announced that the outdoor pools at Franklin Regional Park and Lovettsville Community Center will remain closed on Wednesday, May 27, due to the weather forecast.

PRCS will evaluate weather conditions again tomorrow to determine if the outdoor pools can open for the season on Thursday, May 28.

The Road to Independence Historical Encampment will be held as scheduled today, Saturday, May 23. Join us under the event tent!

This free, family-friendly event brings the American Revolution to life from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Franklin Regional Park, located at 17501 Franklin Park Drive in Purcellville, Virginia.

This special program honors Virginia’s role in the nation’s founding and supports the statewide VA250 commemoration by offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience early American life through historical interpreters, immersive activities, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning for all ages.

The Road to Independence Historical Encampment will feature the mounted soldiers of the First Dragoons, members of the Sons of the American Revolution Sgt. Maj. John Champe Chapter, and immersive historic demonstrations by the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum. The First Dragoons, with Horses in Action, have brought Revolutionary War history to the public since 2018. They share the story of the 1st Light Dragoons and the civilians who supported the Continental Army through live demonstrations and battle reenactments.
