Well put!
"You did a good job" is not included on the price of the course.
What I write may be uncomfortable for many but I challenge anyone to prove me that i'm wrong and that what i say it is false .
I observe very closely every day what happens in the fi****ms training Industry worldwide.
I follow many professionals not only on the fi****ms field all over the globe.
I do it because I think the comparison is extremely important, because I think you can learn every day from anyone who says things that make sense, i do it because i think that before we are professional instructors we should be professional students.
For many, on the other hand, this is a non-existent concept, especially for many professionals who feel they have reached the "top of the pyramid" and believe they no longer have to confront anyone, they believe they no longer need to learn.
However, this is not only a mistake, but it outlines presumption and a type of mentality that should not belong to any trainer, at the base of the pyramid as well as at the top of it.
As in many other fields, the firearm industry is affected by "fashions", tactical trends, stereotypes, myths and legends, many of which, however, are artfully created to sell.
Commercial interests, earnings and marketing dynamics, have closed in a dark corner ethics and respect for what is the martial discipline par excellence, the fi****ms discipline.
This industry, especially in the civilian market, is full of instructors and professionals who respond and obey the commercial dynamics, professionals who have merely traded ethics, logic and common sense, for big or small gains.
This is the dynamic that determines one of the most deleterious things in this industry: the sale of illusions.
Many, definitely too many, sell you what you ask for and not what you would need, no matter if what you ask is absolutely unsuitable compared with your needs, if it completely detaches itself from any real and logic application, if it is something that sometimes is even dangerous because out of your skills, the important thing is to fill the classes.
This is the reason why on Train the Trainer courses I find "instructors" who barely know how to grip a firearm, who know absolutely nothing except those 4 obvious and crude things that are passed off in every shooting range.
This is the reason why are being sold to civilians unlikely courses from unlikely companies as for example:
"Airplanes Hostage Rescue" courses , "VCQB TEAM "courses, " High Risk Areas Contractors Courses" often together with the promises of jobs that will never come.
On the other hand, folks, this is what a large slice of the civilian market requires, many of you don't really want to learn, because learning is hard and very often is boring, but above all it takes time, and with the word time i mean years.
Today people want everything immediately, easy and effortless, they claim to barter years of application and experience with a few days inside a shooting range, to obtain this they are willing to pay large amounts of money, without realizing that they are buying just dangerous illusions.
When there is a request there is always an offer, this is one of the main rules of the market, and this is also why there are many Instructors they sell you dreams whatever is yours.
There are two types of trainers who respond to this dynamic:
- Those who know and who pretend not to know, because they collect a lot of money with this kind of dynamic
- Those who do not know and pretend to know.
These are the ones who became instructors on paper after a simple week of course, those who proclaimed themselves instructors after taking a few courses here and there, those who, knowing they do not know, they tell fantastic "war stories" during their courses and pushing students to shoot crates of ammunition each course, in this way they avoid the risk of talking about the subject they do not know providing students, at the same time, a lot of fun.
If you carry a firearm for defense, choose your trainer carefully, but above all, choose carefully what to buy with training in terms of technical information and educational products.
Don't buy dreams and fun, don't try to buy the experience or the "war stories" of someone else, don't by training courses for Space Special Forces unless you're part of those, otherwise you will only waste time and money.
Always appreciate simplicity, logic and sincerity in a trainer.
One of the bad news I always give to my students before starting a course is:
"If you will do a good job, I will tell you, if you will do a s**t job I will tell you, compliments are not included on the price ..."
As Trainers we are not paid to delude you or lie to you, we are paid to evaluate you saying you the truth, we are here to guide you in your choices and provide you with effective solutions to your REAL needs, or so it should be.
A tough truth is always better than a nice lie, because the former can save your life, the latter can kill you.
Love you all !!!
