In using Eastynn’s videos as an example from previous team challenge it’s only fair I introduce her.

Eastynn is an 06 goalie playing for SRIHA 18U this coming season. She has had an amazing list of accomplishments in her “career” 3 years competing at NYSAHA State Tournaments (top 3 teams for 2 years and top 2 in 2022), which gave her an experience of a lifetime competing at Nationals in 2022. She competed in ESWGS (her 1st year as a 12yo goalie playing 14U). She has dual rostered for a consecutive 4 years. Catches left, is homeschooled so she can play hockey. She maintains a 3.90 GPA will be a Jr., in high school this coming year. Just to list a few.

Currently she is working for CanAm Hockey in beautiful Lake Placid helping youth hockey players from all over the US and Canada.

She enjoys art, archery, her horses, pets and picking on her younger brother (who is also a goalie and is playing for SRIHA 16U).

Just some ideas for the 2500 Puck challenge - remember you don’t need fancy equipment and thinking outside of the box helps players think on their feet and puts them in a position to think on their feet on the ice. The idea of this challenge is to work on development, correct technique and muscle memory. Video recordings help players critique stance, position and see where they need improvement.

Place wood chunks in front of the net (this helps on puck lift). Have someone drop the pucks for them and they shoot working on speed and accuracy. Players can move what they’re shooting off of to work on angle- hang a tin can from corners of what they’re shooting at to work on upper holes - shoot pucks or balls through a hanging tire - just some examples - goalies work on saves and angles BE BIG- tennis balls work well for that due to irregular bounce - they can work on shooting for active goalie drills and practice- a goalie and player can team up and compete the challenge together.

YouTube and other sites have great tutorials on development!!

In following posts are a couple of examples of a goalie working on shooting. She used a Rubbermaid lid as a shooting platform- plywood works great, too!
