🇨🇦 Stealth’s favorite Canadian angler, Mr. Jim Wilson, recently took several photos from another memorable adventure at Horwood Lake Lodge. We’ll let Jim tell you the story exactly as it happened in his own words! 🎣
Road Trip….
Last week I headed up north to Horwood Lake Lodge for the Canadian Fishing Network Retreat for the 2nd year in a row. Fishing partner Michael D accompanied me on this year’s trek and it was an awesome time. A great little cabin at the resort…incredible food…. great people…. great fishing….nightly fish fries and camp fires…. hard to beat!!!
No trophy fish for this year but lots of walleye, pike and smallmouth bass action. We spent most of our time drop shotting minnows and trolling deep diving crankbaits. Streamside Predator planer board rods performed awesome pulling crankbaits and my Streamside Elite medium light spinning rod was great in coaxing finicky walleye to take our drop shot baits.
As usual some “luck” seems to always follow me, middle week my electric trolling motor stopped working, but turned out it was just loose wiring, so a little electrical work and we were back in business. Unfortunately that was not the end of my “luck” on the second last day after traveling to the far end of the lake and back, about a 40 mile trip, a couple hundred yards for the resort traveling along in 50 feet of water we hit a floating log and ended up damaging my prop and skeg on my 150 hp outboard. 😢 I had a spare prop but I did not want to use the boat with the damaged skeg so we decided to head home a day early.
Even though we left a day early with did manage to finish 6th and 7th in the week long retreat derby, so not too bad. And before leaving I booked my cabin for next year’s 2027 CFN Horwood Lake Retreat. 😃
A big thank you to Doris and Warren Reinke and the Horwood Lake Lodge staff for all your hard work and making sure everyone was having a great time. Also a big thank you to CFN legend Scottie Martin for organizing the retreat.
Looking forward to next year's Canadian Fishing Network Retreat at Horwood in August 2027.
.. 👊🏼
It looks like your Stealth QR2 Rod Holders kept your gear secure and helped assist with trolling!
Thanks for taking us along on another Canadian adventure, Jim! Congratulations to you and Michael on your strong derby finishes. We’re proud to have you representing Stealth Mode north of the border! 🇨🇦
STEALTH MODE ACTIVATED!!!
