🏒 HEADS UP HOCKEY 2026–2027 FALL MEN’S LEAGUE REGISTRATION 🏒

Registration for the upcoming Heads Up Hockey Fall Men’s League officially opens Wednesday, August 26.

The season begins Wednesday, September 9, and will run through mid-to-late May. We are looking forward to another competitive, organized, and enjoyable season at the Pueblo Ice Arena.

Returning players will receive first priority, and remaining openings will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

LEAGUE COST: $650 PER PLAYER

Due to an increase in ice-time costs, the registration fee for the upcoming season will be $650 per player.

Heads Up Hockey remains committed to providing a dependable, well-run local league with organized scheduling, qualified officials, competitive games, and a positive hockey community.

NEW GAME TIMES

Games will be scheduled at the following times:

🏒 First Game — 6:45 p.m.
🏒 Second Game — 8:00 p.m.
🏒 Third Game — 9:15 p.m.

PLAYOFFS & THE BELMONT CUP

The season will include a playoff series, culminating in a championship game for the Belmont Cup.

Teams will compete throughout the season for the opportunity to advance through the playoffs and play for the league championship.

RESERVE YOUR SPOT

To reserve your spot, send a text message or Facebook Messenger message stating:

“I want to play.”

Returning players have first priority. Remaining spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your name in early.

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

I will be at the Pueblo Ice Arena on the following dates to accept payments and provide liability waivers:

📅 Wednesday, August 26 — 7:30–9:00 p.m.
📅 Wednesday, September 2 — 6:00–9:30 p.m.

If you would like to take care of your payment and liability waiver in person, these will be great opportunities to get everything handled before the season begins.

PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS

All league dues must be paid in full prior to the first game, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

This Wednesday, August 12th, during our Heads Up Summer Hockey League games, we will be holding a fundraiser for Ashton Smith’s family.

Ashton was a part of our hockey community, and his presence in the league is deeply missed. Those of us who had the chance to play with him enjoyed his spirit, his love for the game, and the way he was part of the rink family.

We will have two adult league games that evening:

6:45 p.m.
8:00 p.m.

Both games will be dedicated to Ashton.

We will be accepting donations at the door, with all proceeds going directly to Ashton’s family. In addition, 100% of beer sales that night will also be donated to his family.

Between the first and second game, we plan to gather at center ice for a stick tap in Ashton’s honor.

Whether you are playing, watching, or just stopping by to support the Smith family, we would love to have the hockey community come together for this. Please continue to keep Nate, the Smith family, and all of Ashton’s loved ones in your prayers.

🏒 SUMMER LEAGUE RESUMES WEDNESDAY! 🏒

After a short break while the rink installed a new sheet of ice and completed facility maintenance, Heads Up Hockey Summer League games will resume Wednesday, August 5, at their normally scheduled times.

Please note that concessions and beer sales will not be available this week. All other rink operations should be up and running as usual.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the ice!

Update on services for Ashton Smith:

Nate Smith shared the following service details for Ashton.

The service will be held Tuesday, July 7th, at 11:00 a.m. at Majestic Baptist Church 494 E Hemlock Dr, Pueblo West, CO 81007.

For anyone who would like to participate, there will be a procession beginning at Roselawn Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. A reception will follow the service.

The family has asked everyone to wear a “Canadian tuxedo” — denim top and denim pants — in honor of Ashton.

For those in the hockey community, please bring a hockey stick. We will help send Ashton off with a center ice stick tap in his honor.

Please continue to keep Nate, the Smith family, and all of Ashton’s friends and loved ones in your prayers. Our hockey community is grieving with them, and we want to show up strong for this family.

Rest easy, Ashton. You are forever part of our hockey family.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news that one of our own, Ashton Smith, tragically lost his life on Saturday following a motorcycle crash involving an alleged drunk driver who fled the scene. Ashton was only 24 years old.

Many of you knew Ashton from our league, and many also know his father, Nate Smith, who has been a longtime member of our hockey family. Our hearts are broken for Nate, their family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Ashton.

The hockey community is more than just a league—we're a family. In the coming days, we'd like to come together to support the Smith family in whatever way we can. As information becomes available regarding services or ways to help, we will share it here.

Please keep Nate, the Smith family, and all of Ashton's friends and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Ashton. You will be missed far too soon.

🏒 Summer League Schedule Update 🏒

For the remainder of our summer league, game times will now be 6:45 PM and 8:15 PM.

The schedule will be updated on League Lobster accordingly, so please check there for your team’s updated game times.

Summer League rosters are officially set!

This year, we had to cut the league down to 4 teams because we did not have enough players to make 6 teams work. Each team will have 14 players, but we’ve extended the playing time with longer periods to help make sure everyone still gets plenty of ice time.

With it being summer, there are usually a few players missing each week, so this should help keep the games competitive. I also did not want to have to tell any more players than I already did that they couldn’t play, so this was the best option to keep as many people involved as possible.

Help us support our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes here in Pueblo!

FCA is hosting a Hockey Camp at Pueblo Ice Arena from June 8–11, 2026, running 8:00 AM–12:00 PM each day. This camp is open to boys and girls ages 6–15 and is a great opportunity for young players to grow their skills, build confidence, and be encouraged through faith, character, and teamwork.
