We are excited for the Fort Utah improvements project to begin on Tuesday, September 8!

Please note that the parking lot and skate park will be closed during construction. The parking lot will be completed in Spring of 2027 with the full project finishing in Summer of 2027.

The project will include:
• All Wheels Park🚲🛴🦽🛼
• New Restrooms 🚻
• New Pavilions
• New Playground 🛝
• Expanded Parking Lot 🚙

Fall sports programming should use the temporary parking lot accessed from 1810 W 150 N.

We spoke with local muralist Chris Peterson about his recent work on the mural at our new 820 N Bridge 🎨 This amazing mural is the first of many we hope to complete in the coming years as part of the Provo River Trail Mural Art Program 🫟

🚨 Public Appeal for Information – Slate Canyon Brush Fire (July 4) 🚨

Cause: Fireworks in a fireworks-restricted area during a city-wide fireworks ban.

This fire is a reminder of why proactive wildfire mitigation matters. Fuel reduction work completed along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST) helped slow the fire’s progression and prevented it from spreading farther up the hillside into heavier fuels. That mitigation helped keep the fire from escalating into a large wildfire requiring extensive resources, including aircraft and other costly suppression efforts that can quickly reach millions of dollars.

This incident reinforces why Provo Fire & Rescue supports proactive wildfire prevention measures. The temporary closure of the BYU Y Trailhead during periods of extreme fire danger helps reduce risk in an area with a single access point, steep terrain, and significant life-safety concerns. It also underscores the importance of preventive measures such as the fireworks ban and Stage 2 fire restrictions, which are designed to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires before they start.

During drought conditions, it’s natural to wonder why Provo’s parks and golf course are still being watered. Here’s how Provo’s Parks Department is conserving water while maintaining these important community spaces:

🌳 City parks use high efficiency irrigation systems that monitor soil moisture and water only when needed. These smart systems reduce waste while keeping parks healthy and usable for residents.
💦 The Provo Splash Pad uses treated, recirculated water, so water is reused rather than continuously flowing to waste.
⛳ The golf course uses reclaimed wastewater that has been treated and is safe for grass and landscaping. Every gallon of reused water is a gallon of fresh drinking water preserved for homes and essential uses.

Maintaining healthy green spaces helps cool neighborhoods, support community wellness, and provides places to gather and play. Provo is committed to preserving these benefits, even during drought, by being responsible and efficient with our water resources.

*Non-perishable food and canned goods within two years of the expiration date that do not have dents, bulges, rust, leaks, or other damage.
*Household items (including but not limited to) shoes, clothing, bikes, microwaves, furniture and more.

What items should I not bring?
*Deseret Industries does not accept mattresses, hazardous or toxic materials--including cleaning products--or weapons.
*No large appliances, such as fridges, stoves and washer machines, please.

You can bring donations to a participating park in your area, Saturday morning, July 11 between 8:30AM and 10:30AM:

What if I can't get my donations to a park on July 11, but still want to donate?
Please include your information and the items you would like to donate on this form, if you cannot bring your donation to a park. A volunteer in your area will help coordinate pick up, likely on the morning of July 9.
