New month, and lessons are still going strong! I still have room in my schedule for anyone wanting to get some in this summer!

And as always, safety and inclusion are my top priorities! I will continue to wear a mask and shield at all lessons, remain outside at all times, and get tested/have a household member tested every 2 weeks!

Summertime means being in the pool and at the beach more. Whether it's for lessons or playing, that time adds up! Swimme...

Summertime means being in the pool and at the beach more. Whether it's for lessons or playing, that time adds up! Swimmer's ear can happen to anyone and it not only limits your time in the water, but it can be painful and even dangerous if left untreated. The good news is that there's an easy and cheap way to help prevent it!

Simply mix rubbing alcohol and distilled white vinegar in a 1:1 ratio. Store in a travel-sized bottle so you can take it with you, and fill each ear canal after swimming. Let sit for a minute, then shake it out. That's it!

I've seen similar information when researching face shields, and I am currently teaching all lessons wearing both a shield and a mask. Safety first!

Distanced lessons now available! Positions for Beta testers open - get an extra discount on your first 5 lessons for being one of the first to sign up! See pinned post or message me for more details!

Summer 2020 update!

Summer 2020 update!

Hello, As all of you know, 2020 has been an unusual and trying year. Between the Covid-19 pandemic and the protests against systematic racism, our world has been rocked. Here at Swim With Shelley, I...

06/06/2020

I have been very vocal on my personal page about the current events and issues, but to be honest, it didn't occur to me until recently to post here. Mostly because I'm not very active on this page until it's time to talk about swimming. But I believe it's the duty of every person and every business, even if that business is one person, to say something.

Black lives matter. BIPOC matter. Swim With Shelley has never and will never discriminate based on skin color, culture, ethnicity, intellectual or physical ability, or anything else.

As the amount of Covid cases in NY continue to decline, it's looking like it is indeed possible to have a swim season this summer. Throughout it all, I will wear a mask when possible, maintain distance from my more advanced swimmers, and never, ever engage in any kind of racial discrimination.

It has long been a goal of mine to offer swim lessons to those who do not normally have access to them; foster children, whose foster parents don't have the means to give them "extras" like potentially life-saving swim lessons. People from reduced circumstances who cannot afford private lessons. Ideas are currently spinning to start an organization to further these goals, but at the moment, if any who would like to contribute to a fund for such lessons, or have more knowledge than I do as to how to make this possible, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Looking forward to a safe and inclusive summer!

Sadly, the outdoor swim season seems to have come to an end. But the indoor season is just starting!
