As America marks its 250th anniversary and the YMCA celebrates 175 years nationwide, we’re proud to reflect on 173 years of serving our local community.
What began in 1853 as a single downtown space in Providence has expanded into six regional branches, camps, childcare, swim lessons, and wellness programs, now reaching nearly 30,000 neighbors every year across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
While the needs of our communities have evolved over the decades, our core purpose remains unchanged: helping people live healthier, safer, and more connected lives while working to ensure that cost is never a barrier to belonging.
We’re honored to be featured in Providence Business News as part of its America250: Enduring Success series. Thank you to PBN for sharing our story, and to our neighbors for trusting us to be here for you today and for generations to come.
