US Taekwondo Complex (USTC) is a Taekwondo Before and After school program in Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to strengthen character and one self through Taekwondo.
US Taekwondo Complex's Before and After School Program serves children ages 5 through 12. We provide before and after school care including transportation to and from schools, afternoon snack, homework help, Taekwondo classes, and fun motor activities.
USTC’s Before and After School program follows safety guidelines and protocols issued by the RI Department of Health (RIDOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This includes stable groups, daily health screenings and temperature screenings for participants and staff, adult mask wearing, and occasional classroom closure should staff or children exhibit Covid-like symptoms or test positive for the virus. We are seeking staff able to abide by safety protocols and stay committed to serving our children and families during this unprecedented time. We are family friendly and offer discounts for child care for parents on our team.
Job Description Overview:
The Van Driver/Teacher Assistant is responsible for managing a group of school age children during before and after school hours, and full-time during summer camp, school vacations, or distance learning days. Van Driver/Teacher Assistant staff serve as role models, develop positive relationships with children and families, deliver curriculum content during Distance Learning, and ensure the safety of all children. Van Driver/ Teacher Assistant are committed to the social and emotional development of school-aged children and demonstrate flexibility and creativity in engaging students in learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain a safe and clean environment at all times
· Uphold all program / agency policies and procedures
· Comply with all childcare licensing regulations
· Develop positive, productive relationships with children, parents and caregivers
· Create positive, productive program environment utilizing positive and preventative classroom management techniques and responding to the developmental needs of children
· Assist with meals & snacks, ensuring compliance with menu and meal protocols
· Provide input to curriculum planning
· Implement enrichment curriculum and provide support for homework start and/or distance learning
· Drive participants to and from school, following social distancing guidelines
· Participate in on-boarding training and orientation as well as on-going professional development
· Participate in staff meetings and common planning time
· Maintain effective interaction with colleagues
· Communicate concerns to supervisor in a timely manner
· Attend meetings / trainings as requested
· Additional duties as assigned
Rate of pay begins at $14 / hour and increases based on education and experience.
Requirements:
· At least 18 years of age
· Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalency
· Excellent relationship building skills
· Positive group management skills
· Love for children and belief that all children have the ability to thrive in a supportive, structured environment
· Ability to support children academically
· Reliability and professionalism
· Commitment to ongoing professional development
· Ability to clear all required background checks
· Clean driving record
· Ability / willingness to obtain chauffeur's license within four weeks
