You guys- I’m so proud to be YOUR race director! I just picked up signs and flags off the trail and swept the crew and aid station area.

There was very little trash and it was clearly accidentally left the small pieces that I did find. Thank you for being good stewards of this lovely property and practicing “leave no trace”!

The miniature donkeys say hi and smell ya later! 😆

With the course swept, that officially closes out the 5th annual Louisiana Summer Night! See y’all next year and hopefully at Red Dirt Ultra in February!

4,237.2 miles.

That's the incredible distance covered by the 135 participants in the 5th Annual A Louisiana Summer Night Trail Run, from 8:00 p.m. Saturday to 6:00 a.m. Sunday.

This race is never easy, but this year's heat and humidity made it especially challenging. Watching so many runners dig deep, embrace the conditions, and push beyond what they thought was possible was inspiring.

The best part of putting on this race, though, isn't the mileage...it's the people. Whether you're cheering on a lifelong friend, encouraging someone you've never met, or racing head-to-head with a competitor, this community always shows up for one another. There's something truly special about the ultra trail running community, and we're grateful to be a small part of it.

Congratulations to our podium finishers!

Women's Division
🥇 Kelli Self – 48.3 miles
🥈 Erica Perez – 48.3 miles
🥉 Vivian Mroz – 42.0 miles

Men's Division
🥇 Kenneth Menard – 60.9 miles (the first runner ever to surpass 60 miles at this event!)
🥈 Kalo Axsom – 58.8 miles
🥉 Chris Feldman – 50.4 miles

A huge thank you to Chris Van Way for opening his property to us and having his team maintain the trails, and to Chuck Ihli for stepping in after our venue change and helping make the event a success. This year's race simply would not have happened without either of them.

Thank you to every runner, volunteer, and supporter who made this fifth year one to remember. We can't wait to see you next summer!

Louisiana Summer Night has a new home for 2026!

Due to the closure of the trails at our original venue, we've moved this year's race to a beautiful private property that many of you will recognize from Made for More Ultra.

The new course features:
🌙 A scenic 2-mile loop
🥤 A fully stocked aid station
👥 A spectator-friendly layout
🐄 Trails, open fields, a pond, and a few friendly farm animals
✨ The same fun, welcoming atmosphere you've come to expect from Louisiana Summer Night

One unexpected bonus? The new venue allows us to welcome more runners! A few more spots have been opened up...to sign up visit this site: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=134123

While this wasn't the change we originally planned, we're excited about this course and can't wait to share an incredible night of trail running with all of you.🌙🏃

All the Red Dirt grit. One big effort.

The new 35K brings the full Red Dirt experience into a single, powerful out-and-back day on the trail.

Expect sandy climbs, longleaf pine forest, creek crossings, and quiet miles deep in Kisatchie. You’ll head out, settle into the rhythm of the trail, and return stronger on the way back.

This is not a “short” option — it’s a legitimate trail challenge and a great introduction to the Red Dirt course and community.

Why the 35K works:
*Out-and-back format keeps the day straightforward and focused
*Well-stocked aid stations with experienced ultrarunner support
*A strong standalone challenge
*Ideal fast road marathoners
*Perfect stepping stone to the 50K or 100K
*If you’ve been trail-curious or looking for a solid trail effort, this is your distance.
