Our Story
Habits and Happiness combines years of research by experts in the fields of neuroscience, traditional psychology, and positive psychology and teaches us how to apply these studies in a simple and practical way to improve and change our habits. The book helps us understand our habits; why we have them; why we can or cannot change them; and how they can help us live better lives. Habits and Happiness is unique because it is based both on scientifically-proven research and on the author’s personal experiences. Many other self-improvement books focus only on one or the other. This book is among the few that does both. Through a study of the scientific literature and a sketch of his own personal experiences with habit formation, Pobric paints a vivid, practical picture for how readers can alter their routines for the better. Pobric has years of teaching experience in the field of positive psychology and habit formation. From 2008 to 2013, he was a Globally Certified Dale Carnegie Trainer and Business Coach. In Fall 2014, he was a teaching assistant for the University of California, Berkeley, course "Science of Happiness." In 2012, he co-founded the Institute for Advanced Human Performance, through which he has taught in one-on-one sessions and led workshops based on his book. He currently hosts four courses on UDemy based on his research. The courses have more than 16,500 registered students. The book has been endorsed by numerous writers, scientists and educators including Shawn Achor, the author of The Happiness Advantage; Harvard University positive psychology professor Tal Ben Shahar; and Ryan Niemiec, the education director of the Value In Action Institute on Character. Other supporters include New York Times Bestselling author Christine Comaford; Mark W, Muesse, a professor of religious studies at Rhodes College; and Andrea F. Polard, author of A Unified Theory of Happiness.
