Congratulations to XCEL Swimming on a great Championship season! We had major success at the Speedo Sectional Championships and the Eastern Zone Championships.

At Sectionals, We achieved 29 best times, 5 individual team records and 4 relay records. A special congratulations goes out to Melinda Tang and Eric Tong for becoming Sectional Champions!! Melinda won the 200 fly and Eric won the 100 breast(100 breast is a new Ithaca College pool record 55.48!). As a team 2 years ago, we finished this meet with 38 total points. This year we totalled 310 points and a 5th place girls team finish.

At the Eastern Zone Championships, XCEL's Daniel Baytin and Ella Jones became Zone Champions! Daniel won the 10/under 500 free and 100 breast(both NJ State records) while Ella won the 10/under 500 free, 200im and 200 free (500 free was an NJ State record).

Amazing day of swimming for Xcel last night! We had 3 individual finalists at Winter Juniors in Atlanta. Kevin Doo made the final in 1 fly, Alex Martin 1fly, 1bk and Eric Tong in the 1br. All swims were team records. Melinda Tang also broke her 1 fly team record at Holiday Classic! 11 team records set in the last 2 days and many personal bests. Keep up the great work the next 2 days Xcel!

Xcel at the NJ swimming awards ceremony at Raritan Valley Community College for NJ state record breakers(Zoe Stokes, Angela D**g, Micaela Bernard, Victoria Zhang, Miranda Cai) and Scholastic All Americans (Melinda Tang, Madeleine Deardorff, Kara Lydzinski, Eric Tong). Olympians Caitlin Leverenz and Summer Sanders presented the awards, took pictures and signed autographs. Great experience for all! Way to go XCEL! Keep up the hard work in and out of the pool.
