Dear Doctor,

Although these days you prefer to be called by your beautiful first name, Rogelio because you say it reminds you of your mother, I just cant seem to break the habit. Maybe it is because of the admiration I have for you, the respect you have gained from me and so many others, or that it still just seems so fitting for a man of your stature. I have personally felt the kindness and generosity offered by you and know it extends far beyond my reach. You always have the most precious offering available, time, for anyone who cares to indulge with you. You are skilled in making people feel cared for, making people feel safe, and making people feel seen. I continue to learn so much from you, in how you carry yourself, your consistent ability to show up, and how you treat others. There is no Locomotion without you, the whole community stands on the example that you set for us all.

We are reliving our Loco Winter Retreats, and this week in El Salvador was packed with tons of adventure and beach time. being steps away from the beach, and one on one surf instruction all weeks meant that everyone was in the water either charging waves or enjoying a relaxing dip.

Surrounded by that much water and beauty has us thinking of going back next year! What do you think?! 🤔

A better late than never recap series of our Nosara Retreat this Winter. It always feels so good to do retreats at a location more than once. The familiarity leads to the fluidity and curation of the week. This group was ready to truly retreat with lots of beach days, strolling around town, and charging the surf!

As always thank you to the group for always supporting us with our back end logistics and making a super smooth week for us to be embraced by the pura vida lifestyle!

A very special thank you...

As you know, Loco just turned six years young. One question that came up a lot of the past couple weeks leading in to our celebration was, “How does it feel turning 6?!”. To be honest, I havent had much time to reflect on the studio’s transformation since its genesis. So, as I reflect to try to find the words on how it feels, I come across some resistance. It is difficult to put words to feelings. This feeling I get isnt one like fear (I have had plenty of that), or excitement (I have experienced plenty of that too). Its more one of those emotions you feel deep within your soul, and it just gives you a great sense of peace. Locomotion has been through a lot, we opened six months before the COVID 19 shutdown, had trouble with our landlords, had to restart from scratch, and now manage all the nuances of a charming old garage. But at the center of its whole journey, one thing has remained consistent, and that is you all. When people comment about the Community of Loco, they are talking about you. You, your friends, your peers, your workout buddies. Without you, there is no Loco. All along this journey, I have been able to trust in myself, because of the immense support I feel from you.

So, how does it feel to turn 6? It feels supportive. It feels connected. How do I feel about Loco turning 6? I feel grateful. I feel indebted. And I am in awe of the tangible feeling that a community can put to an old, empty garage. Totally transforming it to a warm, inviting, loving and welcoming space.

Thank you all for your unwavering support, and cheers to more fun to come!

The measure of a man can be felt on the impact he makes on his community. Last week, we said see-you-later to a cornerstone of our Locomotion team. has always shown incredible maturity, but over the last three years has grown in to a super talented movement coach, and more importantly has stepped in to his potential as a human being. Just look at the faces of some of the many lives he has touched. He commands the room with intention, and leaves you with a smile on your face.

Locomotion has grown because of Azad. He was our first full time Coach opening the doors for the potential of the gym. He has pushed our staff to continue their education about human movements and never stop learning about a passion. Most importantly, he wanted to help people become better versions of themselves.

Mission accomplished ✅

Sending tons of love and support to you as you start this new chapter of your life. We know you will show up with discipline and integrity as you do with all things in your life. You know where we will be watching you from near and far!
