Big opportunity beyond the game! 🎓

Baylei Sandford of Women’s Golf and Rihanna Gayle of Cross Country/Track & Field have been selected to represent UMES at the 2026 NCAA Legacy Lab in Indianapolis held throughout this week!

The NCAA Legacy Lab is a highly selective four-day entrepreneurial development program designed for Division I, II and III sophomore and junior student-athletes. Out of approximately 500 student-athletes nominated nationwide, only 32 were selected to participate, making this a unique opportunity to learn, connect and develop alongside a select group of student-athletes from across the country.

The program helps student-athletes take the skills, experiences and ideas they have developed through sport and turn them into potential business ventures and opportunities beyond athletics. Participants engage in hands-on workshops, mentorship, networking and collaborative activities while exploring areas such as NIL and personal branding, entrepreneurship, and socially responsible business.

The Legacy Lab encourages student-athletes to think beyond their playing careers and begin building a meaningful professional legacy while they are still competing. NCAA covers travel, lodging, meals and program materials for selected participants.
