King of 1 Mile 2026 Finals! Thank you to Jay and Alex with ELRSO for putting on another amazing match. Great location at Greystone Castle in Mingus, TX.
This was a breakthrough match for me personally. I was grateful to be able to finish 5th overall against some of the best ELR competitors in the world. Even though I have had previous matches where I finished at the top of the podium, I felt better about this performance than any other match I have shot. My objective was to work on my mental state in the match and it went very well. Historically, I have struggled with negative thoughts in matches and allowed myself to make bad shots by not sticking to my process. Whether the projectile strikes the plate or not you can make a perfect ex*****on with your shot process or you can allow yourself to divert from your plan when executing the shot. That has been my struggle which left me frustrated with myself and I would actually give myself “permission” to make bad shots rather than giving myself “permission” to keep to my process and make a perfect shot every time. So, with some help from great friends and mentors I was able to focus on that mental aspect and make every shot perfect. For me, that did not mean I always hit the plate but rather make a perfect ex*****on of my process. Then, whether hit or miss I was able to make the adjustments needed and make another perfect shot. By changing my mental approach, I never felt frustrated with a miss because my process stayed perfect and I just accepted that there were unexpected forces outside of my process effected the trajectory of the projectile so I merely took that new information to adjust accordingly and then make another perfectly processed shot. I realize it sounds like difference without a distinction but for me, I was able to stay focused blocking out the noise and just make perfect ex*****ons of my program without being frustrated. Such a breakthrough for my mental game! I also had such amazing support by so many friends that encouraged and congratulated me and I have been able to appreciate the support without immediately apologizing for mistakes and downplaying the success which is new to me.
