Age in karate isn’t a finish line, it’s a different starting point.

In karate, youth gives you speed, power, and recovery. Age gives you something far rarer: economy. You stop wasting movement. You stop fighting your own body. A 20-year-old wins with explosiveness. A 70-year-old wins with timing, angle, and 50 years of reading intention in an opponent’s shoulders. The punches get slower but the reasons behind them get faster.

Most sports bench you when the joints complain. Karate just changes your job. You go from competitor to technician to teacher to guardian of the art. The dojo needs the white belts who can do 100 pushups, but it survives because of the black belts who remember why we bow. Age doesn’t retire a karateka. It refines one. The belt might fade, the knuckles might stiffen, but the spirit only gets more dangerous — because it’s had decades to learn patience.

Congratulations to Little Beginner Kaydence on her recent induction into the Splits Club 👏Kaydence has older siblings in a later class and she stretches and works on improving her flexibility while she waits for her older siblings to finish their class every week. She has accomplished so much in her short time training so far 🫶 Great job, Kaydence!

Incredibly proud and honored to have students recognized as Finalists by the IHOF for their categories of Karate-Ka of the Year. This category is special to me because it includes more than individual Isshinryu accomplishments; it spotlights those students who serve their community, are humble role models, and whose presence and impact in the Dojo are unmatched. They don't seek validation or the attention; they seek respect and contribution.

Congratulations on this high recognition from the IHOF as a Finalist:

William Borowski - Adult Male Karate-Ka of the Year

Lincoln Roy - Youth Male Karate-Ka of the Year

Arie Post - Youth Female Karate-Ka of the Year

THE WAIT IS OVER.

After reviewing 500+ nominations from across the country and beyond, the Isshinryu Hall of Fame Board of Directors has made its decisions.
