Yesterday, Saturday, May 2, we had two big groups of Pratt High Greenbacks competing in State Forensics.
12 Students, 2 coaches, 4 judges, and 1 middle school runner attended 4A Forensics State Championships in Topeka. We took 8th place as a team in a huge state tournament, and I am thrilled we made it into the top 10! We are limited to 16 total entries and it is always a hard decision determining who will go on to Champs. Champs is set up as 3 regular rounds, semifinals, and then finals. We had 8 entries make it into semifinals, and 3 making it into Finals. Braylee Cash placed 6th in the state in Prose, Beau Palmer and Iliana Craft placed 2nd in the state in IDA, and Claire Jack and Cici Flury placed 4th in the state in IDA. Making into semifinals were Braylee in Poetry, Beau in Prose and Poetry, Iliana in Poetry, Denise Araniego in Serious Solo. Also competing were: Braylee with POI, Emmersyn Haskett in Humorous Solo and Duet with Kennadie Haskett, Barrett Thomas in Informative and Impromptu, Cambridge Rector in Humorous Solo and Duet with Elizabeth Ohler, and Caynaan Arp in Serious Solo. Way to go Greenbacks! What a great way to end the season!
We also had 10 students and 1 sponsor travel to Forensics State Festival in Maize. For Festival, students perform one time and receive either a I, II, III, or IV rating. Everyone performing did a fabulous job!
Earning a I rating were: Kharise Araniego in Prose, and in Duet with Rylee Hagman, Rylee in Poetry, Richael Rice in Prose and Humorous Solo, & Mya Orrantia and Jaslynn Cline in IDA.
Earning a II rating were: Kynlee Hildebrand in Prose, Kate Slaughter in Oration and IDA with Makyla Brown, Kharise in Extemp, & Maci Kemper and Emma Inslee in IDA. Great job Greenbacks! Way to end your Forensics season strong!
