Hey guys, we are going to have to cancel classes tonight (9/10). Mylan seems to have caught strep and we do not want to risk spreading it at the school. We will see everyone on Tuesday evening! -- Staci

If you haven't heard yet, we are completely revamping our kids white belt curriculum! Introducing the SafeKids Program!

The SafeKids Program is a 12-week program designed to introduce kids to martial arts and how classes run, teach important character traits such as confidence, self-discipline, respect, and focus, and develop the skills necessary to defend themselves from bullies and unsafe adults. After completing the 12 weeks (or 12 modules) students will graduate into one of our kids' color belt classes.

We are launching this new program on Monday, September 14. Current students are going to be taking the last few minutes of class to learn this new material so there's no need to "backtrack." It will also be reviewed repeatedly as part of the color belt curriculum.

For our kids’ safety program we don’t just teach anti-bullying, how to protect oneself against those around the same age. We also teach how to distinguish between safe and unsafe adults; what actions and behaviors safe adults exhibit that unsafe adults don’t. Here are some of the simple “rules” we teach and discuss in class:

1) Safe adults don’t ask to keep secrets, especially from parents.

2) Safe adults don’t ask kids for help.

3) Safe adults respect boundaries.
