We have several classes coming up with Get Trained. Be Ready. And in addition a great women’s only class being taught by Allie of Mazzanti Fi****ms Training. And of course our monthly CCW class by Scott Stewart.
Once again yet a public reminder that we are not a public range. If you want to shoot or train you must call and schedule an appointment. Not sure how that rumor continues to get resurrected continually but it has resurfaced once more. I think I am going to put that on our sign! Hah! I am heading to Quantico Va. for some training and it includes some difficult shooting qualifications. Yep I am rocking a 1911 frame pistol with that legendary trigger you can only get in an iconic pistol that has won two world wars! Rob will wear me out over it, but hey, it is what it is, and I am what I am. Hah

Most all y’all know my life is ruled by two K9s, Maze n Grace. One is a German Shepard and the other is a Belgian Malinois. They are forever on guard and simply will not be deterred. However on occasion their focus is a bit wonky. The Mal is by far the smarter of the two and very quickly learned anything coming off the smoker gets trimmed, cut or consumed. Regardless the next event is always scraps. Yep total focus on guard duty for Turkey fresh off the smoker. Dog would not move. They crack me up.

Hope all y’all had a great Easter Holiday Weekend, we were all officers on deck, scattered across several churches providing Security. Heck even the Chief worked! Sunrise service was loud and proud, it was outdoors and I think the musicians set their amps on 11. We worked three services back to back to back. During the second one I rotated inside to the sanctuary. Everything was going along great and spirit filled the air. I was at my post being ever vigilant and dialed in. Then at the conclusion there was a baptism service, I thought that is super cool. A young man, I am guessing 7 or maybe 8 years old was fixing to get dunked! I was focusing on the crowd, mindful of why I was there, dressed in both Gods armor, (think Ephesians), and some man made stuff as well. Unbeknownst to me, the individual preforming the baptism was the lads Dad. You could just see how proud he was and determined to preform the ceremony correctly. Everything was going as planned, until Dad started to explain to his son, as he was standing chest deep in the baptism tank the covenant and spiritual meaning behind this very basic fundamental act of Christianity. The Fathers love for his Son was evident for all to see, as his voice started to waiver speaking to him about the love of Christ, the young man standing tall in the water, eyes fixed on his Dad. By now the entire sanctuary is in rapt attention, it was very powerful. As the Father proceeded with the ceremony he ultimately lost his composure and succumbed to tears in love for his Son. There was not a dry eye in the place. He got him baptized and the young boy immediately bounced out of the tank soaking wet into a heartfelt embrace with his Dad. Words cannot possibly convey the emotions and strength that were so evident during this simple act.
What a day

Well once again FB has restricted BCTC. Their opposition to all things 2A is beyond realistic. I guess the photo of the Guacamole was more than they could stand. I am very seriously on the edge of canceling FB. However that is exactly what they want all the 2A folks to do.

So training season is upon us, myself and a buddy have been working on hammering out a trade for many days now, actually over the last couple of weeks. To be fair I have two sets of buddies, the first group, we will call traditional, I would say normal but I don’t know anyone normal, with exception of Abby, Abby normal! (If ya know ya know) By definition my traditional buddies favor pistols that have won two world wars dont ya know! All things 1911.
And then, well…..there is the other bunch, who we will call modern, you know Tupperware toting, striker fired, plastic kind of buddies. So long story short one of my “modern” buddies is trying to wrangle me into taking a G***k in a trade. As most everyone on here knows I do not own a G***k and have not for many years. And frankly, to be honest I do not speak G***k, so forgive my ignorance as I attempt to describe said pistol.
He is wanting to trade me a souped up, decked out 5th Gen G***k 45, I was like woo Hoo I can do that, you know I love 45s. In what can only be described as an exaggerated eye roll, coupled with a slow shake of the head he very carefully and slowly replied, “ No you moron it is a model 45” to which I simply replied ya guy, I get it a 45, I love 45s, 230 grains of round nosed beauty. Again with an even more exaggerated eye roll and a long sigh of resignation he explained. A model 45 G***k is a 9mm. Well that killed the deal, I was like, what in tarnation does a model 45 have to do with a 9mm?This makes no sense, no wonder I don’t have a G***k! In desperation, trying to save the deal and get me reengaged, Knowing my penchant for customization he further explains, this is no ordinary G***k, it has a Trijicon RMR, Ameriglo front sight, extended mag release, complete Timney trigger group. And several magazines. What do ya think? In the end we worked it out and I am the proud new owner of a model 45 that shoots 9mm.
Once I got it home, all it really needed to be viable was some toe nail polish. Pro tip shooters, put a dab of polish on the screws of your optic. You will know at a glance if the screws are backing out. You did use lock tite didn’t you? It will save the day over and over again. Plus with an optic you don’t have to worry about that pesky G***k front sight always falling off!

Well the training season is now upon us. The range is very busy beginning next month and we continue to train our local Church, and School security teams as well as many of our local LEOs. If you are your families protector sharpen your skills and get some training. The important thing is you continue to hone your skills as a protector, regardless of where. Translated, regardless if you train with us or not the more important aspect is that you train. The bad guys are becoming more bold. We as protectors need to become better equipped to manage the ever changing face of evil. Our battlefield is fluid as our training must also be. Take a look at the training calendar Get Trained. Be Ready. Find a course that fits your needs. The bad guys are training, are you? Clearly my ferocious protective Belgian Malinois is training so hard she is wore out! Hah!

Well if you are here in NWA you are likely snowed in. On plus side our German Shepards are thrilled with the snow. They have “snow plowed” for hours, chased each other, and basically frolicked in the snow for days. To supplement the tweety birds bird chow we pulverized some old stale bread and tossed it out. Much to my chagrin the Shepard pup has now developed an affinity to said bread crumbs, arghh. Tonight is my last night working graves, in theory. We lost a couple officers at the end of the year and I told the Chief I would help him out during January while he replaced them. I am just plain to old to be working graves! Plus I eat a zillion carbs trying to stay awake, not good for my figure! Hah! On serious note since I just know all y’all have ramped up your dry fire exercises during this inclement weather, are ya ready to burn some ammo up? It is also a great opportunity to get your reloading done. Or clean the top of your toolbox off? Ask me how I know. I had not seen the top of my box in months!

Well it is a new year! I just know all you good folks made a new resolution to train more in 2026, right? Hah! Well my new year was quite special as I had the honor and privilege to work the Annual Parents left behind fun run. So many families suffer in silence when they incur the terrible tragedy of losing a child. The Parents Left Behind group reaches out and offers support in a multitude of ways to grieving families. Ours was one of those not so long ago. Our daughter’s courage and resilience was simply amazing to watch. The groups support went a long way towards the healing process. And still does. I was tasked with “corner duty” during the run, which essentially meant throwing myself Into Fayetteville traffic armed only with a small stop sign, a bit of courage and the self recognition, that frankly I would rather get run over by a car than run a 5k! My only contribution was allowing the runners to navigate a tight city street corner, and cheering them on. I cannot tell you how uplifting it was to see so many families and groups running and walking together supporting such a great cause. There was the occasional actual runner/athlete but by and large, it was just families and folks supporting people that have been touched by tragedy. We watched a lady trip and fall and instantly everyone around her stopped and provided aid, race forgotten, compassion for the win. They got her dusted off and back in the game. Many a fur covered four legged companion patiently waiting on their two legged counterparts pulling at the leash. Heck I even saw a Navy ROTC candidate, who now knows at least one verse of the Marine Corps hymm! Hah! One of our other daughters actually participated and completed the run in a great show of solidarity. I had super cool workmates and there was black eyed peas and cornbread as a reward at the end. For those of you who know me, I am easily swayed for a piece of corn bread. Anyway while I fully realize this has absolutely nothing to do with what we do, it was important to me and watching our daughter and her families courage gives me inspiration every single day.

Well Christmas is inbound, and yes I said Christmas! Hah! We got our early present as we just got home from the surgery center and Jodi is rocking some new titanium hip! Our sincere thanks for all the prayers and positive energy so many of you sent. I have her snuggled down in her chair completely gorked (per Drs orders) on pain meds, hip wrapped in ice. I am feeding her any thing she requests. Seems like the perfect time to ask for permission to buy a new blaster right? I figure I have maybe a twenty hr window left for asking permission on the new blaster! She is healing already and Bossing me around and we have not even been home a day yet. She is farm girl tuff I gotta tell ya. The hounds know she is hurt and are hovering in protection mode.

Well I would be remiss in the event I did not acknowledge Veterans Day. So many in our family have served, both the generations above us and the generation below us. While we have a mixed marriage of Air Force and Marines, our family also has Army and Navy. Only thing we are missing is Space Force! Just a super shout out to all of the veterans that are reading this, that I have worked with, worked beside, and worked for. Y’all know who you are.
I am reminded of the 2nd and 3rd tier impact serving has on your family everytime I dress for work as Jodi silently looks on. I swing the body armor into place, thinking to myself I really need to spray it down since it is starting to smell like the underside of a saddle! I affix the twenty pounds worth of belt just so, holster my duty pistol, she gives me the once over, gently fixing my collar, making sure badge and flag are square and true. Looks me in the eye and tells me to come home in one piece. The men and women who serve this great Country do not do so alone, they have a family that is supporting them, praying for them and making sure they do not stand alone. The impact that a family can have supporting what you do is immeasurable. Our sincere thanks to all of our veterans and their families.
