We at Damage Control are proud of those in our industry who have decided to postpone or outright cancel events and shutter operations in the interest of public health, putting public safety before profits.
We know these are difficult decisions to make, but at the end of the day airsoft and paintball are both deeply communal hobbies that bring people from all categories together.
Usually, this is an undeniable strength, but under the current circumstances, it's a hindrance.
Players tend to clump, be it in staging, during briefings, on the field behind cover, or after the game has ended at the local eateries. The best part of the experience for most of us is currently it's biggest vulnerability.
Our protective gear, namely goggles and masks, are well known germ magnets even in the best of circumstances, acting as respiratory droplet collectors that increase the subconscious reflex to touch your face.
In short, the situation sucks, but at the end of the day, it's everyone's responsibility to do their part in curbing this thing, and lessening the severity of the curve. Hopefully, the more aggressively we combat it, the faster we'll overcome it.
In light of the CDC guidelines and the indefinite closing of Apocalypse Paintball as a response, we too will be pushing back our April re-opening, and will be back when it is both safe and prudent to do so.
We wish everyone the very best, and look forward to seeing you all both on and off the field again, hopefully very soon.
