Our very own Austin Richens. What an accomplishment and honor for Austin, the wrestling program and Northwest College.

Northwest College is pleased to announce that wrestler Austin Richens has been selected as the 2025-26 David Rowlands Award winner, given annually to the top male athlete in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The award honors the superior athletic achievements of a male student-athlete across all men’s sports sponsored by the NJCAA.

Richens is a two-time All-American for the Trappers who won the individual national championship in the 285-pound weight class this year and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the NJCAA National Tournament. The sophomore also won the heavyweight division at the Plains District Championships in February. Prior to joining the Trappers he won two individual state titles for Uintah High School in Utah and was a two-time high school All-American.

Each of the student athlete award winners recognized will be honored at the 2026 NJCAA Hall of Fame and Awards scheduled for Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Hilton Charlotte University Place in Charlotte, NC.

Trapper Women’s Basketball wins 69-52 and will play in the Region 9 Championship game Saturday at 3:00.
