Double lung transplant done 10/22/24 , completely robotic -FIRST IN THE WORLD - performed by Dr Stephanie Chang. I got discharged yesterday and after being taken care of so gently and professionally by the nurses at I'm now in the loving hands of my mom Lynn ( retired RN) and my husband, Shihan Shahin Mehrkar. Couldn't ask for better than that.

Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes. I believe collectively they were more powerful. After all, God works through people. And especially through my 20-something male donor who instantly gave life to me with new, young lungs and about 4 other people needing kidneys, a liver and a heart. I will leave you with this...your organs do no good when they're covered in dirt. Please consider organ donation. You will live on through others and possibly save many lives . Pretty cool, huh? The Mehrkars need our help!
You may know her as Cher, Cheryl, Sensei WerdaI or even Shihan Mehrkar’s wife! My name is Jocelyn Austen and I have known Cher all my life - she is the sister I never had and my de facto Godmother. Cher is a surrogate daughter to my parents, and she was with my father, my brother and I in the hospital as my Mom took her last, labored breath in July 2023, finally succumbing to the advanced stages of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Now Cheryl needs our help as she fights her own battle with lung disease so that she can have a chance at the double lung transplant that Mom was never eligible for.
