USCSA Nationals in Lake Placid was one we won’t forget. From 65 and sunny to rain, to a snowy final day, we got a little bit of everything and we’re grateful we experienced it all together!

Huge thank you to everyone who made the week what it was- Assistant Coach Zac, Head Coach Hatton for leading the way, our stellar tech support and sophomore Finn, and this team for showing up everyday with growth mindsets. Thank you to Mt. Van Hoevenberg for hosting, to all of the other teams for bringing great energy and camaraderie all season long, and to all of the parents for everything you do behind the scenes.

More than anything this week was fun!! We left Nationals hungry for more..we were inches away from achieving some big goals. Watch out- we’ll be putting in the work this summer and building on the momentum we found this season. This isn’t the end- it’s just the beginning of what’s next.

With a brief intermission for the World Cup this past weekend, we’re back to recap the final day on Saturday from USCSA Nationals in Lake Placid! Women went at 9am, Men at 10, followed by the open relays at 11am!
With snow coming down all day, the tracks were sloppy by the end, but with some strong kick, our Men’s A team (Matt, Adam, and Torsten) finished 5th place, just 3 seconds from 4th.
Our Men’s B team (Nate, Braydon, and Silas) also finished 5th in the open. Our women pushed hard in their final race working hard as a trio. Coach Hatton even jumped in to the open relay with the announcers, all former Saints, or should we say..Sluzers! It was a really fun last day with some special appearances by World Cup athletes arriving. Results on underdogtiming.
Final recap post tomorrow!

After a well earned rest day last Thursday, Friday at Nationals in Lake Placid brought the 15k and a return to firm, fast conditions! It finally felt like the kind of skiing the team had been training on all year.
Matt brought the heat early, pushing to the front of the pack and breaking away to ultimately finish in 4th. Torsten had an outstanding race, earning his first all American honor with an 11th place. A tough tumble in the last downhill before the finish left Adam wanting more with a 19th place finish. Silas skied to 28th, Nate in 39th, and Braydon showed serious grit finishing in 58th, after calf pain made him think about dropping out. Unfortunately Oliver had to leave due to a concussion- wishing him a speedy recovery!

On the women’s side, Skylar led the way again with a 29th place finish with Janneke and Clare duking it out until the end.

Overall, we were happy with our skis and the effort across the board, but still left with the itch for more as the Men finished 2nd overall, just ONE point out of 1st!

Day 2 at Nationals in Lake Placid brought the skate sprint last Wednesday! Another tough day with mashed potato snow, with lots of spills and falls by everyone.

Skylar had an awesome day, skiing her way to a 14th place finish to earn All American honors- the first women’s All-American for the program in 4 years!
On the guys side, Torsten finished 19th with Matt close behind in 21st, Adam in 25th, Oliver in 28th, Nate in 33rd, Silas in 44th, and Braydon in 47th.
