🚨ALUMNI GAME 2025!🚨

We are excited to announce that we will be holding an Alumni Game on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 at Maxcy Hall in Potsdam, NY! All alumni are welcome to attend that day, participation in the game is not mandatory.

🏒🚨 Where are they now⁉️ Catch up with your SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey alumni as we spotlight another one of our alumni, this time from the class of 2018‼️ 🏒🚨

Brenna Wilson from Kanata, Ontario played offense for the Bears from 2014-2018 and was named captain for her senior year. Brenna played in 100 games and had 14 goals and 22 assists for a career total of 36 points.

Since graduating, Brenna has obtained her Masters in biology from the University of Ottawa and she is now currently attending medical school at St. George's University in West Indies, Grenada. Brenna hopes to match into either an orthopaedic surgery or emergency medicine residency program after finishing medical school.

Following her time at SUNY Potsdam, Brenna has switched gears from hockey to practicing both Jiu Jitsu and SCUBA Diving. She currently helps teach Jiu Jitsu classes on campus at St. George’s and enjoys SCUBA diving in her free time.

Brenna’s favorite Potsdam hockey memories are meeting amazing people and playing her favorite sport every day with her best friends.

Another Alumni Spotlight update!!! 🥅🏒🫶🏻

Alexa Stephenson, formerly Alexa Pfeiffer, from Sylvania, Ohio, played goalie for the Bears from 2016-2020 and was named captain for both her Junior and Senior years. Alexa played in 58 games with 20 wins, 4 shut outs, and an overall save percentage of .921%.

After graduating, Alexa plays hockey when she can. Since moving back to Ohio, she tries to find time to hit the ice with some pick-up games here and there.

Alexa has also gotten married, gained two step daughters, and started a family which included the welcoming of her son Spencer, in December of 2022. She is currently pursuing a degree in nursing while working full time as a nurse aide. Alexa enjoys spending time with her family, nights out with her husband, and learning each day how to be a better mother to her son.

Alexa’s favorite Potsdam hockey memory is from her freshman year when the team went to Lake Placid and spent the day on the lake skating, shopping, and being together. She could see that this experience really helped bridge the gap between the younger group and the seniors.

🐾🏒🚨The Alumni Spotlight Segment Continues! 🐾🏒🚨

Katie Marsman from Wantagh, NY played defense for the Bears from 2012-2016 and was named captain for both her junior and senior years. Katie played in 101 games and had 1 goal and 24 assists for a career total of 25 points. During her time at Potsdam, Katie was also apart of the women’s softball team.

Since graduating, Katie has continued to keep hockey in her life by playing in various men’s leagues in Boston and on Long Island. Additionally, she coaches for the 14u AA Islanders Elite girls hockey team, also on Long Island.

Katie attended Boston University and received her doctorate in physical therapy. She now works full time as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist. As a physical therapist, she sees a range of athletes from high school students to professionals.

Katie’s favorite Potsdam hockey memories are coach Jay Green’s pregame speeches and the hours spent on the bus with the girls.

Alumni Spotlight Alert!! 🚨🚨🚨

Amanda Peterson from West Chazy, NY played forward for the Bears from 2013-2017 and was named captain for her senior year. Amanda played in 101 games and had 18 goals and 20 assists for a career total of 38 points. During her time at Potsdam, Amanda was also apart of the women’s soccer team.

After graduating, Amanda kept hockey in her life by playing women’s and men’s pickup at her local rink while attending grad school.

Amanda is currently working as a physical therapist and recently completed her EMT training, joining her local volunteer fire department.

In her free time, Amanda likes to be outside dirt biking, snowmobiling, and playing soccer or pond hockey.

Amanda’s favorite Potsdam hockey memories are listening to the song “Timber” by Pitbull on the way out to the ice before every game, as well as all of the life long friends she made on the team.

GLOUCESTER, MASS.—SUNY Potsdam senior captain Kaylee Merrill (Wasilla, Alaska/Anchorage North Stars) has been named one of 11 finalists for the Laura Hurd Award. The honor is given annually to the best NCAA Division III women's ice hockey player in the country.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR🤯🔥

The veteran team leader tops the NEWHL in goals scored (27) and points (39), and she ranks second in game-winning goals with six. She ranks 4th in the nation in goals-per-game this season at 1.08. Her 1.56 points-per-game is eighth best in the country.
