Portland Grizzlies

Portland Grizzlies Formed in 2004, the Portland Grizzlies are a competitive softball team based in Portland, Oregon.

We are members of the Rose City Softball Association (RCSA), a non-profit amateur athletic association whose primary focus is on slow-pitch softball within the LGBTQ+ community. Our Mission:
To provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience for its players. We emphasize the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for one another and for the game itself.

Nine players? No problem.

Portland Grizzlies kicked off GSWS pool play a little short-handed today, but we brought exactly enough grit to cover the outfield.

Today's Results:

Tie (6-6): A hard-fought, defensive battle against Honolulu Brokebat Mauna.

Win (3-2): Dug deep to secure a tight victory over the Birmingham Sliders.

We are walking away from day one undefeated and resting up those nine sets of legs. Pool play continues tomorrow

We are incredibly proud of our fellow Rose City Softball Association member, Brian Bell, for sharing their story with Outsports! Representation matters on and off the dirt. It’s athletes like Brian who make our league and the LGBTQ+ sports community so strong, vibrant, and inclusive.

I spent 20 years away from the game I loved. Gay softball brought me home.

What an absolutely incredible, grueling day of softball! We battled our way through the bottom of the losers bracket, grinding out 6 games today to secure a hard-fought 2nd place finish at the Portland Cup

Here is how today’s marathon run played out on the dirt:

✅ W 13-3 vs. Seattle Warhawks
✅ W 11-3 vs. Portland Storm
✅ W 14-13 vs. Portland Redwings
✅ W 8-4 vs. Seattle Proud Asian Mafia
✅ W 11-4 vs. Seattle Sinners
❌ L 13-14 vs. Portland BatSquatch-C

Falling just one run short in that final matchup (in extra innings) is tough, but this was a truly great tournament run. This is our second tournament this year that we are bringing home hardware!

A huge shoutout and thank you to our fans, family, friends, and our amazing VIP section! Your cheers kept our energy up when the exhaustion kicked in. We couldn't have made this run without you all in our corner.
