Greetings,
Powder Hounds Ski School has been teaching families to ski since 1972. Pete Hat started the ski school as a concessionary school that used Timberline ski school staff to teach its students in the winter of ‘72. Over the years, the ski school was owned and operated by the Zimmerman, Jewett, Buckley, Keister, and Perry families. As a family ski school, each family made their impression and helped shape the program we know today.
Lee and I tried to honor the tradition that was started and expand the reach of the Powder Hound family with each new student and instructor to our program. I can say with pride; I feel like we succeeded. Unfortunately, like many things in our changing world today, we have experienced adversity and loss. In January of this year, Lee passed away, and a few months later, Mary left us too. Both of them were cornerstones to the Powder Hound experience.
As I approached September, I started to query staff about their interest in joining Powder Hounds for the 2021 – 2022 season. Unfortunately, like everything in our world today, priorities and interests have changed, and we do not have the staff to continue our program in the manner we have for 47 years. Therefore, after a great deal of thought and conversation with my family, we have decided to close Powder Hounds Ski School.
Karen, Alexis, Erin, and I would like to thank all our customers, past and present, for your patronage and support of our program. We hope we have touched your lives and left you with a passion for the mountain, skiing, and learning. Finally, to all of our staff, thank you!. You were the magic behind the success of our programs, and it was a privilege to work with you over the years.
We hope to see you on the mountain or in Government Camp. If you see us, please take a moment to say hello and check in. You have all been a part of my winter's teaching since 1978.
Sincerely,
Victor, Karen, Alexis & Erin
