Yesterday we had an incredible once in a lifetime opportunity to represent our club in Providence Park. In an over-a-decade long tradition, our two football clubs bound to our respective Supporters groups clash to see who is best.

Though the final score wasn’t in our favor, we played with heart, grit, and determination, leaving everything on the pitch. A special shoutout to Dawn from TA FC for making this event possible in Portland. To our players who made the long journey south, your dedication is unmatched. And to the Emerald City Supporters, your unwavering support is the backbone of our club. We’ll be back stronger than ever.

Tonight, the Sounders take the pitch at Starfire, ready to clash with LAFC in the semi-final of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. This isn’t just a match; it’s the very heart and soul of supporter culture on display. It’s intimate, it’s loud, and it’s unlike anything else. The Emerald City Supporters (ECS) dominate the stands with a presence that no other supporter group in the country can match.

But there’s more to Starfire than tonight’s game. This field holds memories—Echoes of the ECS FC that still resonate with me. It’s where legends were born, where triumphs became lore. It was here, on this very ground, that then Assistant Coach Brian Schmetzer, with his fiery passion and sharp tactical mind, led the ECS FC to a monumental victory over the TA FC in the 2015 Supporters Cup. That moment is etched in our history and in our hearts.

As we gear up for our own matches this Sunday at Providence Park, I’m flooded with memories of those past battles that made this tournament so meaningful to me. Every time I watch this video, the adrenaline surges, the excitement builds, and I’m reminded of why we do this. This is the week to get hyped, to rally, and to show what we’re made of.

**2024 Supporters Cup **

ECS FC is the Football Club of the supporters, started in 2008 when ECS was small and nearly every player was a core volunteer in ECS. Since then, ECS FC has grown into one of the largest adult recreational soccer clubs in Washington State. Our teams compete at various levels in men's, women's, and co-ed outdoor and indoor leagues. We've even established our own ECS FC Pub League for beginners, making ECS FC one of the best things ECS does.

But why do we do it? One of our primary goals is to educate supporters about the game we love and to introduce seasoned players to supporter culture.

Every year on one of the weekends of the Sounders vs Timbers derby match ECS FC has a derby day of our own, facing off against teams fielded by the Timbers Army. Most recently the Supporters cup has features for the Men’s and Women’s Championship games, and at times in the past the TA has also had enough to field teams for friendlies in the Men’s 2 and Men’s O-40 categories. There are great stories from over the years, of blowout wins, comeback victories, and penalty kick shootouts.

This Sunday afternoon the next stories will be written, come out and Support the Supporters if you’re still in Portland! If not, stay tuned for next year when it will be our turn to host!
