With all this craziness out there it doesn’t seem like there is a simple solution, but I do not think that is the actual case. It’s this simple to me:
1.) Accountability. (Personal,institutional, and/or both)
2.) Treat people as individuals. (Everybody and always, despite previous experiences)
3.) Talk to people with people you don’t agree with, and try to understand even if you don’t agree. (Find common ground)
4.) Stop ‘playing’ the victim/ stop letting people treat you like a victim/ stop letting people act on your ‘victimhood’ on your behalf. It also is nearly impossible to be treated and seen as an equal if you are the victim rather than a person who something has happened too.
#4 may sound a little harsh but its exactly how extremist exist, recruit, and how they radicalize people/you. See ANTIFA, K*K, Proud Boys, neo-Marxist, Al-Qaeda, and many many extremists organizations work.
Oh and stop using the terms ‘white privilege’ and ‘white fragility’ It is racist, and makes you an ass to dismiss or devalue someone’s opinion on the basis on the color of their skin. I’ll link an article about why the term is bull.
This concept of white fragility is designed to secure one-way lectures, not discussions. What use is this during such divided times?
