More Women+ Surf

Every chapter comes to an end, and so, we create space for new bigger adventures.

Four years ago, a dream grew into this incredible community of salty, authentic, and warm friends. The name More Women+ Surf carries a deep story of connection, hard work, and the joy of what we have built together.

After a year of reflection, we realized that to truly fulfill our mission of creating access for historically excluded communities, our name must better reflect our values of inclusiveness and care. Our new name creates space for everyone to exist in the intersectionality of being human. It represents a diversity unified by a love for the water.

We are proud to become PALMAR COLLECTIVE.

Palmar Collective will continue to center People of the Global Majority (PGM), women, and the LGBTQ+ community. Our mission remains the same: to create water access for those who have been historically excluded. We are expanding our programming to include more water-centered activities—from surfing and paddleboarding to camping and gathering by the water—as we continue to build safe spaces to connect with nature and each other.

This evolution also includes empowering Skate to Relate to become its own independent organization. We are excited for their future and will continue to collaborate closely to support our shared goals. You can follow their journey at skatetorelate.org.

We are grateful for all of you and invite you to write this next chapter with us.

These times, more than ever, we need community and safe spaces. We see you, we love you, we are here for you.

I would say that if you’ve ever been to one of our events or clinics you must likely crossed paths with Sela, but the truth is that Sela was pretty much all over the place in Portland giving big Portland Major vibes 😂

Today we want to give her the biggest shout out and celebrate how smart, kind, thoughtful, brave, determined, grounded, silly, fun and well…so many other things that she definitely is. But we wouldn’t be able to fit in here.

Sela has been a key member of the team pretty much since we started and today, she is getting behind the wheel with a couple bags on her car and a cute Milo pup by her side to embark into a new journey in Denver, Colorado!

Quite a bittersweet day for us, as we will miss her dearly, but we are so excited to see what new adventures she will share with all of her friends back in Maine.

We are so proud of you, we are grateful for all the knowledge and good energy you shared with us.

Stay salty, nos veremos pronto! 🤎☀️

Qué onda!

It is Mexican Independence month for me (Pame) and my fellow Mexican amores but here in the USA is Hispanic Heritage month— So here is a little interview to an amazing group of friends in 🇲🇽 who are creating accessible opportunities to surfing and I think you all should know about them in case you don’t already

Because we celebrate women, and even more women who are looking to make a positive difference in sports like surfing.

Yesterday officially marked the end of our season ☀️ and although it Is bittersweet, we are also ready for a little break 😂

We have many things to be grateful for and that includes the lessons learned throughout each year.

This year, we took the leap to add another board sport to our programming and that has been such a highlight this year and such a great way to give more folks a more accessible opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the ocean, lakes and rivers.

We wouldn’t be able to do this without everyone’s support,- Our instructors and volunteers are a key part of this growth.

As much as we hit a couple bumps at the beginning of the season figuring out how to onboard volunteers, we are so ready to try again next year and welcome all of you who are interested in being part of this community in a different capacity!

We are long overdue for a meetup, so…vamos a janguear with !

Bring some toasty bread, spreads, fruits, bevs and any other snacks you wanna eat and share by the beach!

We will have surfboards available first come first serve in case we get some waves!
