Gunnar, sem er 17 ára, hefur vakið mikla athygli í Bandaríkjunum á undanförnum mánuðum þar sem hann var bæði valinn í úrvalslið menntaskóla um gjörvöll Bandaríkin sem og menntaskólaleikmaður ársins í Michigan-fylki! Gunnar mun ganga til liðs við KR næsta sumar að námi loknu í Bandaríkjunum.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Gunnar Thorhallsson has been named a 2025 United Soccer Coaches Fall High School All-American! This honor recognizes the top high-school players in the nation. Gunnar is only the second player in Portage Central program history to earn this prestigious distinction.

From shutting out the state’s top offenses…

🏅 Honorable Mention All-Conference 2025 🏅

Congratulations to Senior Jayce Handley, recognized with Honorable Mention All-Conference honors!

A clutch performer and fearless competitor, Jayce delivered one of the defining moments of this historic season by stepping up in the State Final shootout and burying the game-winning PK to secure Portage Central’s first Division 1 State Championship. 🏆

Beyond that highlight, Jayce’s creativity, strength on the ball, and tireless work rate made him a constant threat all year long, a true difference maker when it mattered most.

A well-earned honor for a player who rose to the biggest moments. 🐴⚽️

🏅 Honorable Mention All-Conference 2025 🏅

Congratulations to Senior Olin Rohrstaff, recognized with Honorable Mention All-Conference honors!

A true team-first player, Olin opened the season as a key contributor in the midfield and later shifted to lockdown left back, always willing to step into whatever role best supported the team’s success. An unsung hero of this championship run who brought toughness, composure, and relentless effort every single match.

As a testament to his athleticism and competitive spirit, Olin also kicked for the PC football team, earning the rare accomplishment of reaching the state semifinals in two fall sports. 🏈⚽️

A well deserved honor for a leader who always put the Mustangs first.

We’re proud to share MIHSSCA’s post from the All-State & Hall of Fame Banquet, honoring the very best in Michigan high school soccer, including THREE MUSTANGS selected to the Dream Team!

🏆 MR. SOCCER 2025 – GUNNAR THORHALLSSON! 🇮🇸⚽️

We are proud to share this post from the 2025 MIHSSCA All-State & Hall of Fame Banquet, where Gunnar Thorhallsson was officially honored as the 2025 MIHSSCA Mr. Soccer — the first goalkeeper in state history to receive this award!

Thank you to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MIHSSCA) for recognizing Gunnar and for all you do to grow and celebrate high school soccer across the state.

Gunnar’s leadership and clutch performances, including PK saves in both the State Semifinal and State Final, helped deliver the first Division 1 State Championship in Portage Central history. A season our community will never forget.

Next up, Gunnar plans to return to Iceland to attend the University of Reykjavik, where he also has a trial with KR Reykjavik, one of Iceland’s premier clubs. 🇮🇸⚽️

An incredible honor for an incredible Mustang. Congratulations, Gunnar!

Last night was an unforgettable honor for our program and our community.

A huge thank you to the Portage City Council for recognizing the 2025 Portage Central Boys Soccer Team and declaring November 1 as Portage Central Boys Soccer State Champions Day.

For those who weren’t able to join us, you can relive the moment through the video and the official proclamation, which is shared below in the comments. In the video, Captains Marshall Neumann, Gavan Sherman, and Max Bailey — along with Mayor Patricia Randall — shared the proclamation together, making for a truly special moment.

Thank you to all of the Portage residents, families, students, and supporters who filled the chambers last night and to everyone who supported us throughout this historic season. Your pride and energy fueled this team every step of the way.
